Hi I am new to this forum!

I haven't attempted this challenge yet but I will soon and will make videos and post it on youtube. Not sure if i can complete the game with this, if not i will see how far i can get. I am currently busy with work and school right now but whenever I have the time I will start on this challenge. Or anyone here that is interested can provide feedbacks or tips for others on this thread, i dont know lol

Basically a Steal/Morph/Item Only/No Material Challenge

Rules are :
No Material AT ALL Beside Morph/Steal maybe Throw? idk lol( No Chocobo Lure, Underwater Materia. etc. etc. )

No Damage via Command except Item/Mug/Morph, I might consider Throw, but I don't know if that might make the game too easy ( NOT EVEN LIMIT BREAKS ! )

Equipments can be used ( Due to War Gong can cause your whole party to be Berserk, and damaging via this method is legit )

Play as a No Material Challenge until you can access Grenades

Overview :

The objective of this challenge is to save your items and think about when to level up ( via item usage ofcouse ) and when to run away. Know what enemy's stealable item is and determine which item is useless and which is useful ( Tip. Ether will be VERY useless ) As of now Throw has been disabled

The best character I would say for this is Yuffie. Once she gets the conformer you can easily deal massive damage with Morph because it is legit to use Morph.

Tranquilizers are excellent items in this challenge because you can not use limit breaks

Update :
So I've think about it, and maybe to make this more challenging is to make it low level too. That means you can enter battle and steal items from enemy, but by no means killing them for EXP. However, forced battles are different story. ( First 2 soldier in the beginning of game, 3 Mighty Grunts on floor 60, etc. )

I don't know. It seems to me like too much is allowed for it to be really all that challenging, but I could be wrong...

Hmm perhaps it might sound too easy, any suggestion to make this harder?

No Attack
No Materia (some exceptions apply, Chocobo lure, etc)
No Limit Break
Default Weapons only
Only allowed to fight with Items

Always Run (except when forced to fight. Bosses, etc)
If an enemy/s gets a pre-emptive attack on your party, you have to fight.

Tent can only be used at save points, no World Map Tent usage.
No Chocobo, only when needed. (Midgar Zolom, etc)

May I ask how would I get items if i dont have materia ( steal/morph ) and cant attack? lol

If you ask me, some Gentleman Ghost's ideas cripple the basic nature of the challenge. Of course, everything in what he said that already meshes with the original idea, I'd agree with.

I'd keep the no World Map save/tent stuff, the idea of keeping the party in a defensive position and having to fight if you're ambushed. I'd actually ditch, though, allowing the Chocobo Lure-- it's quite possible to get past the Midgar Zolom without using a chocobo.

There is actually a way to get pass the midgar zolom with chocobo nor save/resetting in middle. I think you have to recognize the Zolom's pattern and wait till its on the other side

Edits : Oops i misread ur post, yeah ur right

I'm not the best FFVII (or any FF for that matter) player out there. That being said, tell me if I suggest anything worth lolling over 'mkay!

I thought it was possible to buy items to use against enemies. Like, grenades and such, anyways you'll be running from every fight, unless you want to scrap that idea? hmm. Also, getting past the Midgar Zolom without a Chocobo!

also, I dunno.

Oh yes grenades and molotov and possibly higher tier damaging items can be bought

My, my, what a witty comeback. I am truly shamed and must now go sit in the corner crying over such a clever retort.

Oh the humanity.

By the way, I don't surf the net with one hand like you do.

@MaSSaCrEViTALiTY

Ok, maybe my response was not what you were looking for. Allow me to rephrase:

What do you hope to accomplish doing this?

Actually my initial response to this was how sad of an idea it is.

My second post was in response to the thread creator, responding to my post.

You come to this thread, try to insult me, yet you don't bring anything to thread topic in question?

Who's the moron?

I would say the moron is the person who is such an ass hole that he sees a thread like this that doesn't intrest him, and instead of just scrolling over it to one that does intrest him like a normal person would, he has to go in that thread and insult people and shit to make himself feel better or something. The reason you feel you have to try to prove your internet dominance is beyond me, honestly.

I could be mistaken but don't you hate FFVII ? Why would you even want to come in the forum?

Oh yeah because it's cool to make fun of kids who enjoy FFVII right ;p

Firstly, I apologise to MaSSaCrEViTALiTY and everyone else who has responded in this thread, as it seems to me that a flame war is about to start, continued from a thread in another section of this forum and has now followed over to this thread.

I would say that a moron is the person who saw the post of someone he has had a arguement with in another thread, in another section of the forum and decides to continue the flame war here, thereby damaging this thread in an attempt to not just curry favor with others who may acknowledge the same views you have, but also to continue in a vain attempt to sway others to your way of thinking.

If I hated FFVII, I would say outright that I hate FFVII. Where have I stated in any of my posts that I hate FFVII? Following your logic above, I should go into every FFVII thread here and flame everyone here.

Then explain to me why you've decided to follow me to this thread, and continue our, how shall I put it, 'arguement' from another thread section on this forum, with the obvious intent to attack someone who's views are different from your own.

You haven't even stated anything worthwhile about this thread, seemingly content to let it be destroyed by continuing a pointless arguement. If people like FFVII, so be it. I couldn't care less about that. The point I'm making is that not everyone shares your opinionated views. Not everyone considers FFVII to be the 'end all, be all' game which you consider it to be.

If you are too blinded by your obsession that FFVII is the greatest game ever made. That is implied by your previous posts in the other thread section as well. You can love FFVII, FFXIII Versus or whatever the hell you want, I personally couldn't care less.

I say all three of you (mainly Xiahou and xenogear) should just drop it. The back and forth flame banter isn't constructive and I'm sure you all could use your time in better ways.

As for the topic of the thread, I must admit that I find that I find speedruns where you limit yourself to be interesting, but the extent to which you are going to handicap yourself in the game seems somewhat extreme. Do you think you can finish the game like this? You probably could spamming grenades/molotovs and all that... But why not try a game where limiting yourself is even a greater challenge?

FFVII is largely known as being a fairly easy game, but what of FFIV? I've yet to see anyone try a speedrun with or without limitations, probably because the game is heralded as one of the toughest Final Fantasies around. Given FFVII's relative easiness, I'd be far more interested to see a speedrun in a different FF game.

Edit: And welcome to the forums massacrevitality. I hope you enjoy your stay. Don't let others discourage you from what you want to do.

Why not do the ''White Mage Challenge'' for FFI - Hard Type?

I mean, I've done it...it's a hell of a thing to do.

Also I'd like to see an FF8 challenge when you can't use any magic, no drawing, & no GFs.

A speed run of Final Fantasy IV (http://speeddemosarchive.com/FinalFantasy4.html) in 3 hours and 5 minutes (not tool-assisted)

Enjoy!

Well, if people are suggesting challenges... There's a lot of really good ones for FFXII. 122333, no equipment, no license board, solos and dual character half license board to name but a few.

Okay, so this thread threatened to go off the rails for the petty sniping and now it's threatening to go off the rails and become the "discuss any FF challenge that you want" thread. Topic please.

Give the cheese ring to the guy in Kalm and he'll trade you a cow lure materia. Once you equip the cow lure materia, you can fight cows instead of Chocobos. You can breed them too! Then a new option on Choco Billy's menu is "Milk." When you milk them, they will produce cheese. You have to milk a "Smelly Cow" to get Limburger, milk a "Holy Cow" to get swiss, and milk a "Patriotic Cow" to get american. I heard there's a blue cow that will give you bleu cheese, and an italian cow which will give you Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. If you go to wall market, you'll find the honeybee inn has been vacated. You can buy the building for 1,000,000 Gil. Then you can open a deli. You can serve sandwiches with your cheese, and in the International version of ff7, you can get the Salmon Materia and have Salmon Cheese, which sells for 10,000 Gil on a sandwich.

Ah, the infamous cheese rumors. You forgot to mention how you obtain the Cheese Ring (for the record- win from defeating the Cheese Weapon.) :D
