I bet you were all thinking it's only a matter of time before I posted this thread. So... yeah, about time. Saw VI, yay or nay?

So, anybody planning to see it? I just found out yesterday our theater might not be having a midnight showing of it at ALL!! I'm not sure if that's true but if it is, FML.

But anyway given all the TV spots I've seen so far and trailers and things I've heard about it, it looks like it's gonna be absolutely epic.

And it has no High School Musical to compete with...

I mean I think the first couple movies where great, original and just generally awsome. But Saw VI?? Really? I mean they killed off the killer in like Saw III and the last couple I wasnt even really sure who was doing the killing. I hope this one does something good for the series because I dont know how long it can last.

I think it's weird how the guy is dead and yet, his voice is still being recorded.

I kinda want to sorta actually watch the series, because, well, it looks interesting.

Is it worth it, IDX? I trust your taste.

Did you watch Saw V yet?

And what's wrong Neg, don't trust my taste?

Neg

There are things that we disagree on, yes :p

Not to say that I have to agree on everything with someone to trust their taste. In this case, it is that I don't really know much about your taste because the only things I know you like are FF and Saw. We don't know each other particularly well.

Not that I know iDX super well. I'm babbling. I can take your suggestions just as well as IDX.

Jeez I don't feel like paying rental costs, though :o

Totally didn't know that! I most likely will go ahead and watch the series, I just need to figure out a way to do it on the cheap.

Downloading won't work, movies take forever for me to torrent. Might try the red box thingees.

Totally didn't know that!

We talked about it on AIM a while ago. It's okay, it was almost a year ago.

But anyway what kind of connection do you have for downloading? Torrenting does take a long time, but what about streaming on megavideo? I'm sure by now you can find them all somewhere in good quality to stream, via google.

Neg
10-16-2009, 07:11 AM
Cursory check of megavideo turns up trailers, but I can check for sites to stream. The last one I used was of horribly shit quality, though.

We'll see. I'll try to prioritize this as a project so I actually do it.

Zak
10-16-2009, 07:40 AM
I can always transfer them on AIM if you want.

Not the first one though, I torrented 2-5 back when the first one was the only one I had on DVD, so you'll have to find that one yourself. But my .avi's of 2-5 from the torrent are probably better than any megavideo you'll ever find.

Just one question, Zak. It might be because of when MegaVideo decided to be a cunt, or maybe I missed it when my grandfather started yelling at w/e baseball game he was watching, but

Did Larry really not sleep with the woman? If not, what was her purpose?

No. He was going to... but backed out on it. And Adam was following him there and back to the car. Her purpose I guess was sort of to throw you off and think he was going to, and he would have if it weren't for the call, but w/e it's a minor thing.

I assumed you finished despite Megavideo limits?

Neg

I did finish. I'm thinking I missed some of the dialogue for whatever reason.

Makes sense. Might watch II tonight. We'll see.

Is Saw the new final fantasy?

I've seen Saw I & II and really enjoyed both, but haven't seen any sequels past that, though from what I've heard the movies after that are more about the traps than the story. Now this isn't a bad thing, but it feels like more of a rent than anything.

Neg

If they turn out to be more about the traps than the story, I think I'm going to be happy. I didn't mind the story at all, but I did feel like there was a distinct lack of gore.

I hope it increases as the series progresses.

Without any spoilers, I'll tell you my interpretation of story/gore levels of contrast.

The first one is the least gory, but I don't know if I'd be too quick to say it's not more about the story. They are very careful about the story as well and staying consistent and making us ask questions, in every movie.

Though, the goriness definitely does increase, though I don't think anything has beat Saw III in gore, not even it's followers.

In Saw IV, the gore took kind of a nosedive and focused on the story more instead. That movie was hella confusing and my least favorite in the series, but like all of them, skipping it would be a bad idea because the stories practically pick up where they left off from there on. The traps in IV had a weird concept. But, again without spoiling, I'd have to say IV had an amazingly well-done ending (second favorite ending in the series) which made up for the weakness of the movie itself.

But V definitely redeemed it. MUCH better more clever traps that made sense providing a lot of gore (more than IV), and more of a linear less confusing story picking up literally right where IV left off. But yeah, you kind of have to sit through IV to enjoy it.

You getting the game, Zak?

I just read the review and for all the complaining they were doing, I was smiling like a loon. Sounds like it has inherited Silent Hill's legacy issues (always a plus) and uses RE5's firing system (hold L1, press a face button). They thought that was inexcusable, I think it's DIGITAL SEX :D

I can't see myself NOT getting it used on the hella cheap after it tanks ^___^

I might just rent it, play it, and be done.

It's a shit movie series. I can imagine how the pitch must go:

"What are you guys going to do?"
"Torture people."
"And then what?"
"We'll torture them some more!"
".........go make it!!!"

I'm kinda disgusted movies like Saw (anything after the first, which was OK), Final Destination, and Hostel are made. Better movies like Silence of the Lambs get the sense they are genuinely frightened by the material; the camera itself is afraid to look. On the contrary, the movies like Saw and etc, string around half-assed plots and characters only for the sake of sadism. These directors should be punished by people making the choice not to see these movies.

Saw II was the shit. Best parts was when the dude cut the skin off his neck, and put it in his pocket. Also when Jigsaw caught that ten minute ass whooping. That part had me in tears. I thought he would never stop.

Anyways. I plan on watching SAW VI the same way I watched them all. BOOTLEG.

Zak
10-23-2009, 07:38 PM
Well I just saw Saw VI and let me just say it was the best. sequel. yet.

But I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't seen them all, that's the catch. But it really was epic. Feel free to ask whatever about it, I'll try not to spoil.

Saw VI is my third favorite of the series (following Saw and Saw III). It was AMAZING! First one I saw in theaters! The gore was great from beginning to end, and the twists were even more WTF than ever XD Can't wait to see it again! And it had Amanda in it <3
