Hello,

I'm looking for a render of the Highwind Airship from (obviously) FF7, in preferably 3D Studio Max or Blender format (Maya will also be fine... Basically whatever is available). Pictures of the renders are.... Welcome but I'm looking for a 3D model or a link to such resources.

Thank you for your time,
Morska

Congratulations; you've directed me to a broken link.

I've already made a rough outline of the highwind in AutoCAD 2008 (full size) and will import that to 3d Studio Max once the dimensions are right and it feels more like a model that I can basically wrap textures around. Just as well, I need it to give me a more solid feel for the overall design.

If anyone is interested, I'm also creating a scale model of the highwind (a meter long, a meter wide, and with a height of 12 inches) as a blimp (a balloon will attach to it via male/female connectors) for a table top game I play... Pictures after it is finished (the skeleton of the balloon is being forged from aluminum, as well as the highwind it self).

Me

PS I assumed someone, somewhere had become addicted enough to FF7 to model the ship themselves. Basically, I was looking for a reference model... Surprised that it hasn't been done yet.

its not a broken link at all. it just depends on how you put it in. this fourm shortens the URL so it hass ... in it. just click the link dont copy and paste and it works amazingly well.

So do you intend on making a 3d model of it in blender? If so could i see your work in progress so see how it looks so far?

You are aware that Japanese toy manufacturer Kotobukiya released an officially licensed model of the Highwind a few years ago, and that it was even available in the US and elsewhere through Diamond Comics?

This is the model in question: http://www.tuulisti.com/ff_coldcasts.htm (scroll to the bottom of the page for info and a pic on the Highwind statue). And yes, I own the model myself, although the rerelease, not the numbered original sadly - it's still a wonderful model either way.)

Additionally, I know of at least one attempt to model it in Lego bricks: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=25164

Anyway, I'm very intrigued by the functional model you're making, hope it goes well for you. :)
