I was wondering if the PSP to TV adapter is worthwhile getting, i mean does anyone have one and can confirm what the visuals are like when playing a game from the PSP on a TV set via a PSP to TV adapter?

Also, where would be the best place to buy a cheap one?

I bought one. I have a 32" HDTV so keep this in mind if you don't because I've never tried it on a tube TV. They have two different component cable things that you can use to hook up your PSP to your TV. There's the yellow, red, and white one but there's also the HD components with the green, blue, and red ones (the red and white audio cables are also there). I got the HD component ones. Now from what I know when hooking it to my HD, everything on the "dashboard" (don't know what to call it) will fill the entire screen (after I set the ratio to 16:9 or whatever). But what I was disappointed with was the fact that when I play games, it doesn't fill the entire screen. There's just a portion of the middle (it's like playing on a 12" HDTV) that will display the game. Now I've adjust the settings of the TV to make it have the biggest picture possible by stretching the vertical and horizontal aspects of the picture. I'm not sure if there's an actual setting in the PSP to make the games appear full screen but that's how I do it. And it can be pixelated most of the times too. It's almost like playing a PSOne game but better quality. Just not as good as PS2 quality. The game looks much better on the PSP if you ask me. I was really disappointed in it.

But if you don't have an HDTV like I do, then get the yellow, red, and white component cables. They're both $19.99USD and Gamestop is the only place that I've seen them at. Granted, I don't really look for this so you might be able to find it at any place that sell video game accessories. Who knows? maybe for you it might actually look better and fill up the entire screen.

The component cable doesn't allow you to play games on your TV or do pretty much anything besides access the dashboard, so it's pretty much useless, however, I DO own that and I paid like 8 bucks for it at Kmart, and I can play games on my TV. If your PSP is running a custom firmware, then you can install a program that overrides that and lets you play games and basically do everything on a TV. It allows you to change the screen size as well, so you can basically up the graphics by playing with that. Running FF9 on my TV looks just like it did on the PSOne, and Crisis core looks like it is running improved PSOne graphics for gameplay and eversoslightlyimproved PS2 graphics for the cutscenes.

So tl;dr: buy it if you are running a custom firmware. I love mine and use it a lot.

That's false. Like I said before, only the dashboard fill the entire screen but not the games. I can play games on the TV with the component cables just fine, but the picture doesn't fill up the screen like it would with the dashboard. Maybe it's just your cable that won't allow it (because you said it was $8USD) but mine can.

We're talking about the RYW cable from Sony right? Cause mine specifically says on the box that you can't play games with it. Well, either way, read what it says on the box and then go from there, you can get around the blocks with a modded PSP.

To say that the cables do not allow gameplay is ridiculous. The wires just transfer the audio and video from the PSP to the TV, no functionality is lost.

The box specifically said that the cables don't allow you to play games, and when you try, it gives you a message saying that you can't.

That's weird. I've never heard of that. But either way, you can play games on the TV. It just doesn't fill the entire screen (at least on my HDTV) like the dashboard does.

Certain games and programs react differently, like some of them will automatically switch to TV, and some will just enter straight in even when connected.
