Hey... I did the same with some old punk records I had (CRASS - I'm from a similar era to you) and it turned out ok, I guess. It was punk so it was supposed to sound bad - LOL. I'm having router problems at the minute - it keeps timing out so I can't get your upload (I tried but it won't connect; it's not your link it's my connection) but will try when I get it fixed. I found the software designed to remove the pops and crackles took away some of the atmosphere somehow - I dunno, I just like the sound of vinyl and it wasn't quite as rich as the source. So I left the crackles in and enjoyed it more. =) Sorry that's no help to you, just thought I'd comment.

LP SOUNDTRACK (Capitol Records SWAV-12429)

Music by MAURICE JARRE & VARIOUS ARTISTS

| LP RIP | 16-BIT 44.1KHZ | FLAC | M3U | ARTWORK |

Well I went ahead and did a complete "LP Rip" of this soundtrack so I thought
that I would share it. I think the quality is good but YOU be the judge of that.
This went straight from LP to my computer as WAV then FLAC. I made a M3U
playlist file and added some custom artwork but sorry no LP Jacket image as
I have no way to scan it right now nor do I own a digital camera. Included in
the download is a TEXT file with some specific details as to the equipment
use and what processing took place (very little for you purists). Now go and
download it and tell me how awesome it is!

PLEASE ENJOY !!!

Thanks, FulciLives! And thanks for being ambitious enough to rip the LP. I can't wait to listen to the result of your effort. Not to mention taking the time to share your methods. Cheers!

I use something called Vinyl-2-PC, and it's a great program. I have uploaded quite a few of my rips on YouTube, here's one:

Okay - I managed to get the tracks from your first post and I agree it sounds pretty damn good. I only heard it through the PC (creative Sound blaster card and Cambridge audio amp with Eltax 150 watt bookshelves) and my main hi-fi a lot better but still it sounded great. I'm not a fan of the song but thats moot.
Good job - you gonna do any more? I know it takes a lot longer than a CD rip, but it's worth it for the rare stuff that didn't get a CD reissue.
