You know, I guess I was expecting so much CGI but then again I haven't really kept up to date with the project. Granted they mostly show the Na'vi world which is mostly CGI but it would have been nice to see more human characters. I suppose they'll keep that for the trailer though. I will say though that it's refreshing to see colourful and lush CGI. Looks lovely imo and I think the love relationship between Neytiri and Jake should be nice.

I assume he'll fall in love with her but as much as he loves their her he'll just end up back in his wheelchair after cutting off from his avatar. Should be good!

This is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, but I've actually made a strong effort to know as little as possible about it before going to see it. However, I caved and watched the trailer last night, and I'm even more excited about it now. I won't make the idiotic mistake of watching more trailers though. On the other hand, my roommate was pissed off by it and kept ranting about how disappointed he was because Cameron promised that everything would look photo-realistic or some such nonsense. That's why I ignore hype.

One of my friends is extremely excited for this movie, and although it does look very interesting, I can't get into it. I'm a huge fan of James Cameron and the technology he's using for the film looks fascinating, but I don't know. . .I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Is this based on the animated series Avatar: The Legend of Ang? Something similar or something else?

Jarosik, it's not based on it but a film based on that series is already in works by M. Night Shyamalan. But they dropped the "Avatar" in the title I guess because it could have caused confusion with this film. This one were talking about is James Camerons first movie since Titanic.

Here's the movie based on that tv series...

not to steer the thread away from james cameron's movie, but i've already given up on the last airbender. it looks like complete and utter shit.

back to topic: i don't really know what the movie is about, but based on the trailer, it looks a bit like surrogates (which is another movie i want to see) but i still want to see this one

also, prak, it looked pretty photo-realistic in some parts, imo

I'm now even more confused then when I asked. I shall get to the bottom of this! Cheers Denny. Sweet avatar by the way. "My wife has a heart condition...".

First heard about the movie a good while back and I'm definitely interested. Everything I've heard from people that went to the IMAX previews has been absolutely glowing. The trailer looked nice enough to me, though, indeed, the CGI was a let down after all the talk of being the best-ever. The budget is huge, and I don't think any of this looks any more realistic than the creatures in District 9, which had a waaaay smaller budget. But, regardless, I've seen some hi-res stills of the CGI that do look very photo-real, but the eyes still throw it off. Still going to see it and give it a shot.

Jaro if you really are confused, this movie has nothing to do with the Avatar cartoon. Cameron began writing it like 10 years ago before that even existed. There is a movie based on that cartoon coming out, but it won't have the title "Avatar" so as not to conflict with James Cameron's movie.

The trailer looks nice but I know nothing about the series or card game. Debating on watching this.
