I know the title is a dead giveaway, this is somewhat of a rant. Rapidshare downloads go at 100KB/sec if I'm lucky. It will die and stall at 0KB/sec for 5 seconds every 10 seconds. So it takes over an hour to download 1 zip file... also, some of these uploads are multipart zipped and there are sometimes 4. I'm not saying that it's bad, I'm just saying that Rapidshare isn't the site to use. I can only download 2 zip files per day.

My internet connection is fine. I can download files from any other site at maximum speed.

There HAS to be an alternative to rapidshare. It's appalling.

/End Rant.

Sorry I had to drop that on you guys. I know you have better things to do than read complaints, but someone has to say it. Rapidshare sawks!

Thanks,
-Neil

It varies from where I stand, and be thankful it's not SendSpace.

Maybe you need to start choosing a different mirror than the default one? I don't ever remember RS being quite that bad with the stopping and stuff. Sure it takes a while, but at least it is free.

Well Rapidshare is a POS, if you're using it for free. If you subscribe to the service then I'm getting about 2mb download speed.

oO No I'm just saying Rapidshare is a popular choice and it's going to require admins to crack down and penalize people that use it. Okay, it was just a joke... lol Joke Fale!

More people use Rapidshare instead of Mediafire because Rapidshare is more popular/well known.

Yeah. Mediafire would be the best.

Second would have to be Megaupload. I've heard a lot of bad things about it but I like it. Even though I can only download one thing at a time, I can normally down multiple things back to back without having to wait. Don't know if it's glitching for me or if it's like that for everybody. But it works for me. =)

I actually paid for mediafire once. It's great for storing files, but I tried to use it to stream files in the flash player. Needless to say, they didn't like it and their technical support gave me the runaround when I complained of my videos not streaming. It's like they willfully disabled the videos from streaming properly and then played dumb. I canceled them because of it. That, to me, is a good indicator of bad technical support for future problems.

Otherwise, I would highly recommend them because of the easy to use interface, lax restrictions... etc.

I'd have to agree, mediafire is quite a better choice than rapidshare it seems like more and more people are beginning to use it, although not at the speed I'm sure many of us would hope for.

Do any of you guys prefer megaupload to rapidshare? I know in the past megaupload would stop you from downloading more than one file at once but now that seems to have been lifted which is just aces.

I do prefer Megaupload to Rapidshare for the most part, but it seems that Megaupload doesn't like this site too much (according to the sticky thread at the top of the list). I use it for getting stuff when the other option is Rapishare, though, I have recently been seeing more links to Mediafire.
