THE NMK-UPL-JALECO FUN PACK!!!!

* kbps varies (most are 128 kbps or higher).
* All were ripped from PCB (no MAME).
* About 360 MB on Megaupload (bite me).
* All in the long MP3 track style, please read everything below, thanks!

When you play a game in MAME and it says that the sound emulation is not 100% perfect, they are not kidding. Many of these games sound completely different from MAME to the PCBs. Some of them do sound fine in MAME, most don't. If you play these games before and didn't like the soundtrack, I do encourage you to listen to them again. It's like the difference is night and day.

The track list:

Bio-Ship Paladin + Koutetsu Yousai Strahl
Black Heart
Desert War
GunNail
Macross II
NOVA 2001, XXMISSION, ARK AREA, Omega Fighter
P-47 Aces
Rapid Hero
Second Earth Gratia
Thunder Dragon
Thunder Dragon 2
USAAF Mustang
Vandyke

The format is the whole soundtrack in one long MP3 file. For Paladin/Strahl, and the four games in one MP3 file the whole soundtrack for these games are on the MP3 file, so don't worry! I would like to have people in the future try to separate the tracks from the long MP3 file and rerelease them with all the songs in their tracks (and no long MP3 file, its get annoying after a little while). So Simon B if you are reading this if you want a small project to separate the tracks from the MP3 and make them your own releases then that would be great.

So who did what?

NMK:

Black Heart
Desert War
GunNail
Macross II * I like this one
P-47 Aces * So much better than MAME
Rapid Hero * A lot of people are looking for this one, it's pretty damn good.
Thunder Dragon * This one is actually good
Thunder Dragon 2
USAAF Mustang

NMK did most of their games under different companies. If you play Black Heart and USAAF Mustang it'll have the UPL on it but NMK developed those. P-47 Aces and Desert War were under the Jaleco label but those are also NMK games.

UPL:

Bio-Ship Paladin
Koutetsu Yousai Strahl * Like this one
Nova 2001
XX Mission
Ark Area
Omega Fighter
Vandyke * Really like this one

JALECO:

Second Earth Gratia * Pretty good

All these games are shooting games except Vandyke (it's a great vertical platformer). I wish I can find Acbobat Mission from UPL but I couldn't find it. :(

For the NMK stuff I wish I can find the first Macross game and a few weird titles. If you looking for Task Force Harrier I think it's already on the first page in this thread. If not just bug me and I'll give you the hook up.

And the most important part of this whole thread, the link:

Enjoy!!!! ;)

360MB.........

Yeah, but it's quite worth it thou.

Anyway Simon if you are reading this clean your PM box!

Anyway believe it or not I was able to split all the songs from the long MP3 tracks. They will be another release of it soon. But I was planning to make them individual releases and not a really big one like this. You can still download it for a "sneak-peke." I might do a few individual releases tonight. My goal was to get Simon B to do the finishing touches (custom cover arts, and actually naming the tracks, lol). Would be nice if he can do it. :)

But sooner or later I'm going to take the link down once all the games have an individual release.

Well, take your time. Thanks for this at least, even if large. Your extractions
of the songs from Thunder Dragon 2 are a bit cleaner than the one hosted at
G-H.... the other one already there for some reason keeps sometimes speeding
out of whack at times, and all of the files while at it.

hey i'm back :)
i hvae cleaned my PM Box too.

you are free to pm me now.

i 'll download it as i finished to check my 100 mails xD

//EDIT:
it looks like that all the tracks from a game are in one mp3? isn't it?
i ll do the job for most of them, the first interest for me here is macross ^^
but all are very interesting!

ho my god T_T
so wonderful, the encode could be better for some of them but the sounds are so perfect it's fully enjoyable.
i like it so many.

i think to buy a "Supergun" & hack it(add a "Stereo Jack" oupout) to rip the arcade Chipsound itself from the JAMMA PCB, it's what you did here, isn't it?
then i could call these rips OST's ^^
i dream of that since i start to contribute here. make Real OST, non existing Arcade Soundtrack ripped from an "AC Cab" or a smaller "Supergun" to have the most possible perfect & original sound.

i'm in front of an arcade cab when i listen Macross II ^^ wonderful !

i don't know if i can't thank you enough for this, as the community can't either.
you have found the unrippable for us, using the real system!!! arrigato !

There is one game soundtrack I'm looking for from NMK: Riot, which was released in 1992.

HyperDuel, can you try to reupload this on Mediafire or Sendspace? Megaupload is too damn fussy with the time to download your files AND they are trying to get you to get their stupid subscription, so you can be loaded with fees.

No man. There are 3 Ninja-kun/Jajamaru games released for Arcade:
Ninja-kun: Majou no Bouken / Ninja Kid - Arcade / Famicom (1984)

Ninja-kun: Ashura no Shou / Ninja Kid II - Arcade / Famicom / MSX (1987)

Ninja Jajamaru-kun - Famicom / MSX / Arcade / Gameboy Advance (1985)

There is even OST album released for Arcade version of Ashura No Shou

I am sorry dude, but I don't like the Jaleco hardware that was made before they came out with the Jaleco MEGA SYSTEM 1 Hardware in 1988, mainly because they use PSG for the music, and I like arcade hardware that uses FM chips.

Nichibutsu (Nihon Bussan Co. Ltd.) was the only company and the first company to ever use FM chips in arcade hardware in 1985.

I know a lot won't care about it, but just to clear it out, Ninja Kun is UPL, Ninja Jajamaru Kun is Jaleco, the characters are very similar but are not the same. Jajamaru has his own series of games for the FC and, as I can recall now, only one for the arcade, Ninja Kun also had its series but can't remember how many and if it had console-exclusive.

I wonder if Hyperduel is still around, I'm glad to know there's still someone who likes the real thing, most people these days go the easy way and use emulators to record the music, I guess I shouldn't have started my thread (Thread 94767).

Well, what I used to do when ever I wanted a song from a game, I would record it on cassette tape and listen to it whenever I wanted.

Seems HyperDuel1 is not around here anymore? Too bad as i had some questions... like from where are those recordings (dont seem to be made by him) and how was the recordings from Jaleco Megasystem 32 games done? (desert war, Gratia, p47 aces...) As those PCB's dont have stereo output so is it necessary to modifiy the PCB in some way to get the music in stereo.

Evolution01

He used a supergun and the actual hardware to get the music, Stefan.

Stefan_L
10-09-2011, 11:49 AM
Yes i know the recordings are from the PCB's... but i was just interested in how the Jaleco Mega System 32 recordings were recorded from the PCB as it does not have stereo output, i solved that problem by modify my Mega System 32 mobo PCB with a s/pdif circuit and therefor i am able to do stereo recordings from the MS32 games.
But who knows maybe there is actual MS32 mobos that have stereo output the analog way and my MS32 mobos are just some old versions supporting mono only or something.
Even if HyperDuel1's link dont work so have heard the Desert War recordings that was posted on youtube and they sounded like they were analog recordings.

I have recorded "Second Earth Gratia" and there was a couple of tunes that i could not add a name to as i had no idea where in the game they play and i have coinfeeded the game twice just to try and find out.
As i mentioned earlier so do i not have the recordings posted in this thread because the link dont work anymore... could anybody please post the track names that was used in that release? Othervise i will only use the number from the sound test as name.

The format is the whole soundtrack in one long MP3 file.

I presume that means the tracks aren't tagged individually, so your guess is probably as good as anyone's.

In other thread-related news, look what's getting a soundtrack release:

OK. Well, can you just upload it as it is?

By the way, out of topic, I think the names of the enemies, and machines that the forces of the Ebur Continent pilot and use are cool-sounding.
