How embarassing...

Anyway, so I took the Members Card and went into the Honey Bee Inn, but left before I could take the Bikini Briefs or the Lingerie. But now I can't get back in with the people outside saying that it's closed. I take it that you need one of those items to get into Don's Mansion, but I can't get them.

Is there a way around this or do I need to start from the beginning again? I don't really mind if that's the case since it's only taken me 2 and a half hours to get to this point and I'll be quicker this time. The script and soundtrack is lovely, anyway.

Thanks everyone for your help! :-D

You don't need the item. It just makes it more likely that Don Corneo will select Cloud if you have more items.

Ah, so I can just collect the other items and I should be fine. Thanks! :-D

Incidentally, there are some other things you can do while in the Honey Bee inn, one of which is also needed if you want Don Cornero to select Cloud as his 'date', if you ever decide to restart the game and manage to get into the Inn again.

In the top most room (the girls' dressing room), speak to the one of the girls at the dressing table and ask for them to put makeup on Cloud's face. This doesn't appear in the key items list, but is necessary if you want Cloud to be Cornero's date. Because of this, a lot of people forget this step.

Additionally, there are two other rooms there that you can spy on - one room has an elderly couple occupying it, which if you look closely, you can spy a small Cait Sith doll in the corner, leading some to speculate that the couple in question is Reeve's parents. But there's no conclusive evidence to state that fact, other than Cait Sith's presence there.

The final room has the bizarre spectacle of President Shinra performing a strange rite with members of his executive board. A number of key plot elements are mentioned here, which don't become apparent til much later in the game. But it's more fun to listen to the other executives complaining about the President's behaviour. ;)

Anyway, that's all that you can really do in there - regardless of who Cornero chooses as his date the game proceeds in the same way anyway so it's more for comedy value than anything. :)

Thanks, but I probably won't restart the game if I don't have to. Anyway, I've got loads of Final Fantasy games to play after this one. I have to get a move on! May Final Fantasy live on forever! :-P

(That said, I may return to this game further into the future. I probably will. It's a brilliant game. :-D)

I think Don Corneo chooses you in four possible cases...
I found a faq about it on the net yesterday (because I was actually at that part of the game) and I was able to get his attention when I had:
Silk dress, sexy cologne, diamond tiara and sexy briefs.
I am not 100% sure, but I do believe that if you have only three items, it can still work. Don't forget to pick up the hyper behind Don Corneo's bed ;)

It's okay, I've moved on since then. I wasn't chosen, but I rescued the others. And yes, I did pick up the hyper. I thought there'd be something back there. xD I was kinda surprised at how you exit the room, though.

What ended up being the items you wore at the Don Corneo's event?
If you remember that is :3

I think it was a dress and a wig. They were the only required ones, I believe. To be honest, I'm not too bothered about being chosen or not by Don.

That's cool, that's cool :D
Now, you must be really far off in the game :3

No spoilers, but I'm at the bit where Aeris, Barret and Red XIII have a battle in an elevator and Cloud has to fight a person from a helicopter on his own. Anyway, I can win both boss battles, but it's after when I control Cloud and try to get to the save point, that I always end up in a battle, get poisoned, and die. Yeah, I find regular enemies more difficult to beat than bosses! :-P

I was going to say equip a Poison Ring, but you won't pick up one of those until you defeat the Motor Ball boss. The only alternative in the event of poison is to use an antidote. If you are still struggling, try to level up prior to this event or, in the worse case scenario, run like fuck.

I have a Star Pendant (protects against poison) which I hadn't realised I had. I equipped it and managed to get to the awesome cutscene. :-D Thanks for your help, anyway.

Another thing you can do is if you received the Elemental materia (by correctly guessing Mayor Domino's password on the first try at the Mayor's Office in the Shinra Building), you can link it with the Poison materia in someone's armour (as long as the slots are linked slots).

If the materia is unlevelled, using this materia combo will halve the damage that character takes from poison attacks (as poison is classed as an 'element' in FFVII for some reason). At level 2 this combo will render you completely immune to poison, and level 3 it will actually absorb poison damage as HP. So it's a good materia combo to remember. ;)

Ah, thank you very much. The materia system is actually quite complex, though.
