This soundtrack is absolutely wonderful and I have waited so long to hear it in full apart from the anime. The anime itself is about a young man who finds himself in a position where he sees the face of a female assassin (ein). Rather than kill him off, the organization erases his memory and has Ein train him and gives him the name of Zwei. Zwei and Ein take on numerous missions in a cold and detached manner leading to numerous high-profile assassinations.

Many of the scenes, and thus the music, are sad as we watch these young assassins take orders without question and kill ruthlessly. Many of my favorite tracks are accompanied by female vocals in the style of Lisa Gerard. Like most anime soundtracks, there are a variety of styles used throughout but there is a consistent quality with the melody that brings it all together.

I also highly recommend the anime even though about half way through it takes a major turn in direction and gains sort of an urban feel in actions and in music. I fear that the second soundtrack will lose the classical quality to fit the tone of the show as I have already heard through a few tracks but there is not much I can do to change that.

Didn't get a chance to thank you before the forums went down, so here I am saying thanks now. I haven't had much of a chance to really absorb the rest of the music, but I LOVE Karma(the opening song)...it's one of the few anime openings I listen to repeatedly.

From the sounds of it every single piece of music of the Phantom - Requiem for the Phantom series that wasn't on OST 1 will be here, including eyecatches and title card themes. Judging by the song titles it looks like there will be some orchestral themes along with the techno themes. I know that one of those tracks is Cal's theme from later in the series which combined classical piano with techno.

I'm not so sure the electronic stuff is hiphop. It sounds more like industrial to me. Listen to "Chaser" or "Koroishi no Perfect Game" again. That sounds more like industrial in the Nine Inch Nails vein. Listen to a couple of tracks from NIN's "Ghosts I-IV" album and compare them to the more electronic tracks from Phantom and tell me whether I'm on the right track.

I'm talking about Reiji's theme that plays after episode 12 or so while he is running around in a suit and stuff. It has an annoying vocal part that is so R&B that with the hip-hop style beat I just can't stand it. Most of the other tracks I agree are highly industrial.

Does anyone happen to know what song is used in the last episode when Ein/Elen confronts Sechs and Sieben? Many thanks if anone can tell me.

Heh, the one with the vocals is the best track, in fact its the only track I'm looking forward on the OST 2.

In Episode 4 of Requiem for the Phantom, there is a song towards the end of the episode about 18 minutes and 40 seconds in. It has a violin playing in the background. Does anyone know anything about this song or whether it is included in the OST? Thanks!
