I read in another forum that Eiko and Vivi are capable of breaking the 9999 damage barrier. I'm pretty sure Vivi isn't, since his Doomsday has always, always, always dealt 9999 damage maximum. But I'm not really sure about Eiko's Sancta (Holy) because well, it barely touches 8000 in my game (if I remember correctly) so it could easily go over 9999 if I trained her more...or better, maxed out her stats...

So...yes. Any thoughts? :)

I don't think so, maybe with a GameSnark...maybe some nerd put it on YouTube...

Ah, no no no I'm pretty sure you can do it on Gameshark, but I mean, you can do almost ANYTHING on Gameshark so it doesn't count... I was wondering if it was a legit thing to do in the game.

I quote: "His double black ability with a high level magic can exceed 9999 damage for one turn but it's unreliable. He and Eiko are the only ones who can technically do that. (Eiko with Holy)." It was on Gamespot. I don't know if I'm allowed to link to it?

Technically, your statement isn't correct.

Yes, they can deal more than 9999HP damage, but it's using an ability that essentially gives them two attacks in the one turn (Double Black Magic for Vivi and Double White Magic for Eiko). As far as base damage for one attack however, 9999HP is the limit.

Considering most monsters in the game aren't anywhere near powerful enough to warrant spamming such abilities (with the exception of Ozma), it's a moot point.

Oh, ok! thank you for answering, and I'm sorry for posting a stupid question, ahah.
Thank you! ♥

It's okay. I'm sorry if my post sounded a little harsh. In hindsight I could have worded it a little more softly. :D

I presume that breaking the 9999HP damage limit in FFIX is theoretically possible, but to do so would involve having to hack the game's code and alter it, much like the 'break damage limit' patches that you can get for the PC version of FFVII. Maybe a GameShark could do something like that.

But that's a big assumption on my part.

I looked on the Final Fantasy wiki for a list of the games in the series that can break the damage limit. Final Fantasy IX is not one of them...that is legally\fairly...

As far as I know, Break Damage Limit was only brought in in FFX and has been in the series (in some form or another) since.

For me, breaking the HP Limit is a more useful ability than breaking the damage limit, especially since most enemies in FF games (even bosses) generally do not heal themselves.

No, Ceidwad, breaking the damage limit was possible before X - you could cause more than 9999 damage in FFVIII, too, with GF Eden :) ( I don't really know about VII though)
...but I agree that breaking the HP limit is slightly more useful, yes. Plus it's cool seeing such huge stats on your character, it makes you feel "powerful" ahaha!

FFVIII is the only instance before FFX in which you could do more than 9999 with a single hit (shockwave pulsar and the GF Cactuar could do it too, btw). Of course, these moves were vastly inferior to Lion Heart anyway, since that would pretty much consistently do about 200,000 in total.

Actually, if you count it, due to a glitch with Barret's Missing Score and Vincent's Death Penalty, it's possible to one-shot 99% of all enemies in FFVII with notable exceptions for Ruby Weapon and Safer Sephiroth due to high defense.

Since the damage multipliers work off how many kills you've obtained (Death Penalty) or amount of equipped high AP Materia (Missing Score).

To max Missing Score to it's maximum x25 multiplier you'd need around 2,000,000+ AP (utilising around 4 Hero Drinks) and with Death Penalty you'd need to have killed over 15,000 enemies. Both of these require the use of either Berserk and Deathblow Materia.

If you don't use Hero Drinks, then it becomes insane to pull off as Vincent would need to kill around 60,000+ enemies.

The most worthwhile kill with this would be One-Shot KO Emerald Weapon which would require you to have: 1,410,000 AP (3x Mastered Knights of the Round aids this significantly) on Barret and 16,896 Kills with Death Penalty.

All this information and more is found in my good friend Absolute Steve's insanely in-depth FFVII guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197341/45703

EDIT: FYI, that wasn't a plug... I just remembered reading that you could essentially do more than 9999 damage in FFVII, and didn't want to rip off the information without giving due credit.
