FYI, according to the official game site, there are no original compositions or arrangements in this release. The following 3 versions are included:

PC-8801 (original FM synth versions)
Music From Ys Renewal & Music From Ys II Renewal (very bright, synth-heavy)
Windows Ys I & II Complete versions (basically slightly-arranged MIDI)

Sadly, no arrangements in the newer Falcom style, a la Oath in Felghana or Ys Origin. :/

hi i am a huge ys fan and on the ancient land of ys forum they have stated the music is new and not the same as the pc complete version. the third version in this download that he has (labeled chronicles) i have never heard before, i have heard from what i see all off the ys cd except the last ys symphony (2001?) i believe. what ost is this then i am certain i have heard the Music From Ys Renewal & Music From Ys II Renewal cd before and the tracks are different then what he posted, am i wrong? but i have been told that the game ost is new?

However, it regretted it in an imperfect ripping some files.

There's a newer version :), because it's not the Renewal Version. You can compare Renewal and the newer in this archive.
Arrangements are made by Yukihiro Jindo. And you can be sure, theses are in Felghana or Origin 'Style' (btw, a bit more calm ! :p)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GI6Z2CVG

You can download this one song, this is Palace of Destruction (one of my favourites :D), and this is the newer version. I never heard this version before Ys I & II Chronicles oO. And i'm sure this is not Renewal (not the same type of music)

Which differences are there between the PS2 Musics and those ?
Otherwise, you've done a great rip !!

Merci =)

Indeed. I'm going over them now. They wrote "renewal version" on the website, but they apparently meant a new arrangement, rather than using the Renewal disc versions. No complaints here. These would be worth making another alt. soundtrack for the PC version. :)

The PS2 versions are based on the Ys Complete arrangements. The differences only come in with the quality of the sound samples used.

Like MoriyaMug, it's an alternate version of Ys Complete Soundtrack. Seems similar, but it uses different sounds.

What about your opinion ? For me, i think this is a great soundtrack, and it fits very much with the game (Ice ridge of Noltia <3 yay !)

Ys I Complete version ost was my favourite Ys I OST, but this is as good as it.

And the new version of Termination... Waow !

What about your opinion ?

It's good stuff, though I'm always going to have a soft spot for the first version I ever heard: the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-CD arrangements by Ryo Yonemitsu.

PyramidHead

Yeah, pretty good too. But I never played ancient version of Ys I (just Ys Complete on PC, Ys Eternal on PS2, et now, Ys Chronicles)

Sweet. Thanks for sharing this, PyramidHead.

And there's one thing I'd like to say to anyone who may be confused as to whether this rip is actually new or just taken from previous Ys I&II releases: the Chronicle Side (PSP version) is completely new. I've never heard it before, and I look for Ys (and Falcom) music like crazy. So unless there was some super secret release of this music in the past, it's brand new.

I'm saying this because I don't want fans of Falcom music to mistakenly overlook this rip thinking that it's the same old stuff... Ironically it is because they're remixes of the same old stuff, but it's relatively new. Download it, bitches.

For that, go here: http://legacyofys.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ Not in lossless, though. Be quick, at any rate. Gamespy's shutting off hosting after today, so the whole site's going bye-bye. I have yet to make arrangements for any other hosting.

I've got almost every Ys-related CD that's ever been released (not all up for download). Hey, PyramidHead, would you mind sharing how you ripped the music from Chronicles? I was thinking of making another alternate soundtrack for Ys I & II Complete, and I'd like to do a direct conversion.

PyramidHead
08-31-2009, 03:53 PM
Moriya, if you have the Original game, so you have to make an iso backup. If you have already the iso, then, you have to extract all the musics with a software (like UMDGen).

After all that things, you have to convert psp music files in wav or MP3 (or what you want !)

I don't remember, but I think the psp music format is Atrac 3.

Anyway, thanks for the PC-Engine version ! :D

MoriyaMug
08-31-2009, 06:34 PM
Yeah, I have all the .at3 files from the ISO. I just haven't been able to convert them. I tried Sony Sound Forge 9, but it doesn't seem to know what to do with them. Tried renaming them to .aa3 as well, with the same issue. I get this:

An error occurred while opening one or more files.

An error occurred while opening a codec.

The file H:\PSP\07ys201.at3 could not be opened.
What am I doing wrong? x.x

PyramidHead
08-31-2009, 06:44 PM
Most of those programs doesn't work, that' why you should try HiMdRenderer.

I was like you before, all my at3 musics could not be convert. But this one works ;)

Nice a new Ys collection. I'm in the process of compiling a one stop collection of Ys music. I put a thread up about it...

http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?p=1347502#post1347502

Feel free to browse the list. If you have anything I'm missing let me know, or feel free to request something. Even though I have no idea how I'll upload it.

Thanks for the Chronicles Rip btw.

Gave it a quick listen. The Chronicles folder is DEFINITELY new. Sounds almost like an arranged version of renewal. Because I think Renewal was a midi/synth version. Chronicles is definitely a real instrument version. But definitely new and definitely good.

Fair Winds, track 31 from Ys II Chronicles, is quite possibly the most beautiful arrangement ever, and my newest favorite Ys track.
