I think this is the right place for this... no google result was able to aid me.

Anyway, I'm trying to complete everything in the game, and I'm trying to all the reaction commands for every enemy in the game. I know you don't have to do it to officially complete the journal, but I'm going for it anyway.

So, I'm in Pride Lands, and you know the Shamans and the Living Bones? The little monkeys with the wands, and the big ridable things? Well, I'm having an issue trying to get a reaction command out of them.

See, I know that the Living Bones are sometimes ridden by Shamans and sometimes not. And I know Shamans have a reaction command "Dispel" for when they create the blue fire ring around you, I got that one. And the Living Bones WITHOUT the Shamans can get you a "Rodeo"/"Grand Cross" reaction command chain, which I got. But I'm also supposed to be able to use Dispel on the Living Bones WITH the Shamans riding them, but that's what I have not been successful with. I know that would entail magic or that blue flame ability from the Shamans riding it, as it would for a normal Shaman. But no matter what I do, the Shaman-rider never uses ANYTHING! All it does is spin around, I've tried multiple things, like using magic on it (I had to use magic on a normal Shaman to get it to use that, took me a while to figure that out), or going a distance. But it never seems to do anything other than stomp or spin around and whack with the Living Bone's tail! Any help on how to get it to use it? I've tried multiple google searches, to no avail. All FAQs I find say to wait for the Shaman riding the LB to use it, but it never does!

I noticed also that the Living Bones being ridden by Shamans are all headless, while others aren't. I haven't seen one with both a head and a Shaman, even though the picture in the Bestiary is of that. I don't know if they even exist in the game or if you need that to be able to use it, but a little help here... thanks!

Which location are you attempting this in? It's been a while since I've played KHII, but I do remember this vaguely... I think you can execute this best in the location right before you enter Timon/Pumba area. It's a long narrow path.

I'll try to hook up my PS2 and give this a whirl to see if I can get it to happen.

ANYWHERE I run into a Living Bone with a Shaman on it. Which is pretty much all screens: Jungle, Wastelands, Wildebeest Valley, Savannah, Elephant Graveyard.

Are you talking about the Oasis? There's a long winding narrow path a couple screens before that, that being the Wastelands. There's a small jungle area in between those two screens.

It's actually two screens from the Oasis. You enter the Oasis from the Jungle. What screen is right before the Jungle?

I already told you that in the post you just quoted: The Wastelands. That's the long narrow winding path.

All right, dude. No need to get snippy. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page. I'll check it out tonight when I get home from work.

Cool, thanks. For the record, though, right now I'm only seeing Shaman's there, not the things they ride on. Then again I'm still on Story level 1 so maybe it changes...

I went back to the stage and entered the "Wastelands" from the "Jungle" area. The first two encounters I had with enemies had Shamans running around and the "Dispel" move was triggered immediately. You know it's going to occur when the Shamans summon fireballs that encircle you in which you immediately see the Triangle button flashing.

Since you're still in Story Level 1, that may be why you're not seeing the Shaman's trigger this move. I was already at the end of the game when I went back to the Pridelands to check this. You may have to see this move when you return to it in Story Level 2 or much later in the game.

Did you get it from the Shamans that RIDE the Living Bones? I already got it from the ones that run around... I'm trying to get it from the mounted Shamans, which register as "Living Bone", so it'll record in the journal that I used it on a Living Bone.
Though I must say that for the lone Shaman itself, it wasn't triggered immediately, they only did that move when I used magic on them. I guess if it's different in the story level then the ones riding are different too? Mind trying it with the Living Bones mounted by Shamans?

Unless that's what you did and I'm misunderstanding... but you did say Shamans "running around"...

Yeah, I can give it another go tonight and let you know. I got the "Dispel" move to trigger when they weren't riding Living Bones.

As did I... except, I had to use magic on them and put Donald and Goofy on "Sora Attack" to get them to do it. They didn't just do it like that. Mounted on Living Bones, however, they didn't do it at all, with or without magic, even after all forms of provocation at all distances.

So, I was able to trigger the "Dispel" reaction command while they were riding on the Living Bones. This occurred in the first heartless confrontation I had when I entered the "Wastelands" from the "Jungle". He did it almost immediately as the battle began and pretty much worked the same as it did when you fight him alone and he activates that move. I used the command to kill the Living Bone he rode on which left the Shaman to fight on his own.

I looked in my journal and it did not add "Dispel" to the list for Living Bone. Since it was already listed for Shaman in my journal, nothing new was added. So, I think if you're doing it for the purpose to completely log everything in the journal, you're set already for that enemy.
