Try and learn as much about Materia, the different types, and how they can be placed inside your weapon slots to make your magic spells better. Keep in mind the growth of each Materia. There's not much I can say without sounding too overcomplicated, there'll be tutorials and such in-game to help you out. Welcome to the forum btw.

also: this thread belongs in the Final Fantasy 7 discussion forum. Just letting you know. Inb4moved (if any)

Hi and welcome :)

If you really want advice on the game, though, make a thread in the appropriate subforum.

I'm going to ask you a very important question. Your answer will determine whether I will like you or not.

OH SHI~

I mean yeah, he's had 12 years to do the deed. I'm still so very pleasantly surprised that I didn't have Silent Hill 2 spoilered in the 7 years I neglected to play it. I think it was 7, you do the math yourself.

...don't even come near me. If you do, I'll have to resort on using the Holy Ketchup. You will not survive.

How old are you? I want to know what playing the game for the first time later in life than I did is like.

Edit: If, at some point later in the game, you see a giant green thing moving around in part of the world map, go talk to him. He gives you candy!

*groans*

Ignore him Josh. The candy is a lie!

The big green thing he speaks of is floating death, pure and simple. Luckily for you though it only appears underwater. :D

Anyway, welcome to the Forums and enjoy FFVII. :)

If your playing for the first time, you really should spend some time developing your characters i.e. levelling early on in the game. It really pays off as you move through the game. As mentioned earlier you should also learn how the materia system works etc. I think FFVII was the only Final Fantasy where I actually really enjoyed staying up late and devoting hours just purely levelling up early on.

Most people who haven't played ff7 by now, long know the story from fanboys or FF7:AC and forums and general fans, if hes started now then we can assume that he's played others and heard the story many times.

My tip is, if you want extra levels and easy materia leveling, when you get your bronco, take it over to the south east, just south of fort condor, theirs mideel (consult a ff7 map if you dont know) You wont be able to get to mideel, but the beach has sandworms for 5000gil and the tiny pinnacle of grass had monsters that give you about 400ap for each one (if i remember correctly)
That place can have you mastering materia in no time at all.

Oh and maybe consult a guide if you ever encounter Yuffie within the forests just west of Fort Condor.
