Hello. I installed FFXI on a new PC today, which I know will run it (it's got everything my old PC had on it)

When I tried to start up Playonline Viewer, I got an error, saying that it couldn't find Playonline Viewer Install path ID=1000

I'm wondering why it's not working, and I've looked everywhere online, trying to find out how to download the install path!

Please Help !

Um, the 'install path' is just the location for the program's files on your computer's hard drive. When you install the software it asks you to specify a directory to install to, otherwise it usually defaults to a standard install path (C:\WINDOWS\Program Files\PlayOnline).

If you're getting this error it usually means the shortcut you're using points to a different location on your computer to where the program is installed. If you're trying to start PlayOnline Viewer using a desktop shortcut, try clicking 'Start>Programs>PlayOnline>PlayOnline' and see if that works. If it does, delete the existing desktop shortcut and create a new one (right hand click on the PlayOnline icon under 'Start>Programs>PlayOnline' and select 'Send To>Desktop (Create Shortcut))'.

If it still doesn't work, then search for the program using the Windows Search function and create a new shortcut using the method above. If after all this however it still won't work, then something is corrupt in PlayOnline, so you'll have to reinstall the software again.

Well, since I don't have the first 4 CD's (POL, FFXI, and RoTZ) I guess I'm done playing FFXI. What a shame.

Is there a way to cancel payments online, without having to go through POL?

if you have more than 1 hard drive your drive might have changed letters. It happened to me once (another game though)

I have 2 hard drives, but 1 is inactive at the moment. I've searched everything on my PC for it.

All I did was reboot the damned PC and the pathway went missing.

Went through the playonline webchat and cancelled payments. I have no way of reinstalling Playonline Viewer, so I guess I'm done with FFXI for good!

It was a good 6 or 7 years, but I know for a fact I'm not playing another SE game.
