And yes, I would love to get my hands on those. I've had so much trouble hunting them down; mostly as I didn't learn about some of the games till way after they were released, by which time most of their music had either become dead links, or were taken down.

Just to clear something up: The two soundtrack releases for the Magic School Lunar game did contain some BGM, so it was more like an arrange/drama album. I used to own both of them.

Don't think you could do a quality rip of an ISO unless you rip from the actual game disc. Seeing as it's a Sega Saturn game, it probably has redbook audio, anyway.

that's an easy fix. you use nero or alcohol 120% to make an actual cd, then you burn the tracks!

And yes, Alcohol 120% is like... heaven~! for those evil .iso files that are more easily findable than .mp3 or other formats sometimes.

first i have the Mahou Gakuen Lunar soundtrack. the first track is the full version of the opening song "Wonderful Fantasy," and tracks 2-28 are from the redbook audio of the cd. i renamed the tracks from a list that was on the lunar-net website.

See, that's the problem with finding ISOs online -- Most of them are low quality when it comes to the audio portion of the rip. Naturally, they lower quality of the audio files on CD-based games to make the overall game smaller (file size) and thus easier to download. So, for the purpose of gaming, it's not a bad idea, but for just the audio experience? You need the actual game disc or access to a site with quality ISOs.

With this particular Lunar rip you found, the audio seems to be of very low quality.

i would argue that lower quality is better than what we've had up to this point. which is nothing at all. lol you make it sound like it's being played on an old record player. believe it or not, some people prefere to just listen to the music. some of us don't have to have our soundtracks in flac or 320kps mp3s. we prefere to just have it. if you absolutely must point out quality issues with music posted on this forum, there are plenty of other threads you could do that on. i'm happy that some people were pleased that this got posted at all. that's all i care about. don't go out of your way to discourage people from downloading it just because it's not up to your own personal standards.

I would counter-argue that you just stopped looking for a decent ISO of the Lunar game after locating the one you managed to find. In which case, that's a lazy effort on your part and you really shouldn't pat yourself on the back for that.

Ungh, I hate the Magical School Lunar anime... :/ The Magical School Lunar tracks sound fine to me. I am amazed by my friend who can hear like terrible audio quality versus high audio quality. Though what irks me is that I hear this high frequency that no one in my family or friends hear which is so annoying.

If I cannot obtain a legit copy (of course, I would pay some amount of money for it, got OTAKON coming up, so hopefully I can nab something pretty rare there). I am good with any audio quality. I grew up on the NES. ^_^

I would counter-argue that you just stopped looking for a decent ISO of the Lunar game after locating the one you managed to find. In which case, that's a lazy effort on your part and you really shouldn't pat yourself on the back for that.

Those Magic School Lunar soundtracks are probably bootlegs as the authentic ones did not come in a standard jewel case. Their cases were made out of something similar to cardboard, like the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest soundtrack.

There was no Magic School Lunar Vol. 3; it can only be the animation soundtrack or an unofficial soundtrack.

tk1984: You should have done the job right the first time and I'm not lazy for not providing a better rip. At what point did I say I was going to contribute to this topic? Again, I'm not complaining because I don't download soundtracks to keep them -- The soundtracks I want to listen to are the ones that I buy. I am just curious from time to time to see what kind of quality certain soundtracks are in, though I'm mostly looking at that quality for downloads to older, official soundtracks. Sometimes I like to preview, but not anymore.

I know I have the bootleg ones. >.> Yeah, I made a mistake on my site. I don't have a Magical Island Vol. 3. Just two copies of Vol.1 O.o

I bought them from VGMWorld.com; the description says "booklet-type case", which it was. Yahoo! Auctions Japan is known for replacing cases, but maybe the booklet version was a first press/limited edition. I just assumed it was like the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest release.

I didn't exactly find that exact Seiken Densetsu one, but I found one that's better with the original soundtrack and some arranged ones along with a whole ton of misc Square-Enix stuff.

It's just 2 albums they reissued and combined into one, OST + Arranged so that's a better choice and why you don't see the others floating around.

The OST has been recently reissued on iTunes but again same thing minus the arranged tracks.

Don't think you could do a quality rip of an ISO unless you rip from the actual game disc. Seeing as it's a Sega Saturn game, it probably has redbook audio, anyway.


that's an easy fix. you use nero or alcohol 120% to make an actual cd, then you burn the tracks!

Alcohol 120, CloneCD, Nero etc. are *crap* for PCM. Just use EAC, stick the Staurn game in the drive...the first track will be data (so you can't rip that) the rest will be Redbook audio, extract the PCM like you would any Audio CD.

Is this a real Audio CD or did you mean the Soundtrack as a Rip from the Game Disc?

Well I am interested in the CD; but I wouldn't mind a RIP; likely includes a lot more songs than just the CD. :3 So if you could, that'd be great.

Ok it's not really a RIP, there are only 17 Tracks in the Game and there was nothing more to find on the Disc so these are the same Tracks you hear when you put the Disc in the CD Player.
