I think we should organize a drawing contest. What does everone think. The basic outlines I'm thinking that every person can enter ONE drawing, their best, and then everybody votes on them. Tell me what you think and we'll start sometime soon.

Yeah, I kinda meant that. So try and draw something yourself. If you really want to draw something with a friend, that's fine. People might not respect it as much in the Judging process!

Sounds interesting. So is this going to be just pencil? Or can I cg it as well? And are we allowed to draw fanart?

I think CG should be out, and for fan art... It would probably be ok as long as its totaly out of your head. But Ill leave that to Far to decide.

I guess Im in, but I think we should make some deadlines, and then keep them nomatter what. Its the only way to get it finished, so boo hoo to anyone who forgets...thats what I say.

How about two categories? One for CG art and one for regular?

should there be a theme ? that would make it more challenging in some ways and reduce the possibility of having radically different pictures that are hard to judge against one and other ...

and personally i don't think there should be different media categories, van gogh, michaelangelo, dali, picasso, etc etc didn't CG yet their work is famous and beautiful, a piece is only as good as the artist, not the media ... whoever judges should be astute enough to judge a piece beyond the media it is in...

Well, I don't want to be the person in charge, I'm just suggesting it. The idea in the end is that everyone will send their entries to me and I'll make a place where people can say which one they thought (probably a name and who drew it). I'm not real sure about computer coloured drawings yet, we can all discuss that together. I don't want to have a theme, we can have them next to put a twist on them. I'm going to set it that you have aprroximately a month to get your drawing/s up on your site and posted to me. Thanks!

Actually, most (fan)art contests have two catagories. Black & white and colored. In colored CGs would go as well.
I think to at least part those two would work better than having to pick out what's best out of a colored picture and a b/w one. If you know what I mean.. o_O;

Oh ya. I can arrange it all 'n stuff, if you want me to. ^_^
We'll need a starting date and a deadline, and a seperate thread for it all. GD would be okay. The signature contest was held there as well, and it would draw more attention. That sound good? ^_^

Oh ya.. don't just go and post it.. Tell me or another admin about it first. Or even better, I'll post it when we've agreed on the (possible) catagories, rules, date, etc.

Edit: And yes.. I agree with the 'no "copied" pictures' thing (like drawing things from excisting images). That's not fair to the people who drew it all themselves. XD

Ok then. Seeing as you know more about this (I really would prefer being a participant!) Then I'll leave it now to Rosiel Maxwell!! I think multiple categories is a much better idea as well.

Actualy Alielle, the art is only as good as judges judge it to be. Unless the only person who sees it is the artist who made it, and they like it. Even then the pice has little beuty, seeing as no one can see it.

About submittions, I think that people should be able to submit their work nomatter who they are or when they showed up as long as its before a point of no return...or somthing like that.
I think they should all be sent to one person via the private messaging system. Then that person should post them all on a site where only judges are allowed. A few days before the winners are annouced, everyone should be told the url.

Also, I think that all spam should be deleted with a message sent to the poster...Im lookin in your direction nymph. :D

btw when was the wedding? and congratulations!

I think we should let Rosiel make a system, then we can tweak it.

Okay.. Mint's suggestion was pretty good. I'll create a thread in this forum (Artistic Discussion - 'cause basically all people interested in doing art come here) in which people can sign up for this contest. There will NOT be a "qualification round" or "novices" and "expert". We're all equal here, hmkay? ^_^
I'll leave the sign-up thread there for say.. 2 weeks? What do you think is okay? ^^;

Um.. I could also post it in General Discussion 'cause that forum gets more traffic.. So what do you think is best? ^^

You would be able to sign up as either participant or judge. Naturally, judges can't participate. I'd like to participate in this myself, but if you guys think I should just stick to organizing it.. Then that's okay. XD

I'd say people send their works to me in either PM or via email, and make a page for 'em. I'll not put the names next to the work until the winner(s) is/are announced. This is to keep people from "playing favourites", even if not aware..
And about a deadline.. How does 4 weeks to send in artwork sound? Should it be more or less? ^^;

Every participant can enter ONE drawing that has to be theirs, and it doesn't matter if they drew it for the contest or already had it.
NO image alterations or other digital art (wallpapers, photo enhancement, etc). Only hand-drawn (or wacom-tablet-drawn) art.

Oh.. And I do think there should be two catagories (color and black & white), so naturally two winners as well. We could have those winners compete as well, but eh. *shrug* we'll see about that later.

I think you should post in the GD forum for JUDGES!!! That way the artists here (unless they want to be a judge) can be free to draw! I think it's set, 4 weeks. So we send a PM to you Rosiel with the link to the drawing?
