I feel like such a n00b for not knowing this, but could someone please explain how to rip music from DS games? I know about having to have to game ripped onto a computer, but how do you rip the music from it? I'm trying to get the music from Gyakuten Kenji, and from the bit I played, the music is really good. The reason I'm trying to rip it is so that I can post it, because as I said, it's really good. Thanks for helping. I've tried ripping the SDAT file using NDS Top System and then dragging it to SDATTool, but that only produced an SMAP file and empty folders named:

Bank
SEQ
SeqArk
Strm
WaveArc

All of them, as I said, are empty. I think the SSEQ files are supposed to be in the SEQ folder, but it is also empty.

Not every ds game uses the same procedure to compile the music and soundeffects [nitro], but there is a general way to get the music from a ds game.

1.First open the editor [it is made by kiwi] it is called 'editor'.
2. Drag a nds file into the editor or choose 'file' then open and choose a nds game [example supermario.nds].
3. Double click on the nintendo ds rom image, a pop up will appear.
4. You will see a empty box next to a plus sign, select it and choose in the upper left corner extract selected. Al the files will be extracted.
5. Search for a file called music.sdat. This contains all of the tunes etc.
6. Drag the music.sdat file into the editor [kiwi]. DOuble click on it [nitro composer file].
7. A pop up menu will appear. Select the empty box next to the plus sign. And extract selected.
8. The music.sdat has been extracted and reveils several maps. Like bank, sequence, wave archive. There is an technical explanation offcourse why that is, that i will not explain. Because the easiest way, lies in the sequence folder :] . There you will find the music that every ds game uses.
9. Drag the files [containing in the squence folder] into a program called sseq2mid. This program will convert it into a midi.
10. Play the music loud an eat some sushi!!!!

Ahh, thanks! The rip to MIDI changed the music somewhat, but it's still very good.

where to find the editor program? PS: since it's midi make sure to include the instruments or it will not map properly

I downloaded the editor but for some reason it won't run on my computer! It just comes up with this:
[where the file is]editor.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem!
