Hey losers.

I'm sharing a rip of a newly purchased copy of the Zeta Gundam Special OST.
Album: Mobile Suit Z Gundam Special (Discs 1 & 2)
Artist: Shigeaki Saegusa
Year: 1999
Quality: Ripped at lossless WAV format and converted to 320kbps in iTunes.
Catalog #: KICA-2043~4

Links:
Disc 1 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/agh1g37/n/MSZGS1_zip)
--track 19 (http://www.mediafire.com/?4dimnl50arj)
Disc 2 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/agh118e/n/MSZGS2_zip)
Booklet (http://www.mediafire.com/?zyiiqmzym4q)

Just as I did with my V Gundam upload, I'll stress that this rip is different from AthrunZero's version in his Gundam music topic (hope you're reading this Athrun =); replace your crappy version with this one). I found that the quality for that special OST just wasn't good enough, considering how much I came to like the music for Z Gundam. Now you all get to benefit from my vast generosity. Pay HOMAGE to the Great Bastard you FOOLS!!!!!!!

Some other things to mention have to do with the tracklist and the booklet. Whoever originally translated the OST really screwed up. We were given single titles for each track: The Pursuer, Half-Moon Love, etc. However it turns out that there were individual track titles within each track. Gundam music fans know that composers of the series have had a history of cramming a bunch of songs into one track instead of splitting it up. Well in Z Gundam, they each had names. I've used every resource on the Internets (all 3 of them) to track down the translations. Through a combo of Google translator, gundam trivia, and just plain common sense, I've come up with the best translation any of you can hope for:

If there are any Japanese to English translators out there, I'd appreciate a better interpretation. More on that later.

I scanned the booklet and covers. However, the booklet consists mostly of Japanese text. I see no point in scanning pictures of text I can't read, so I've only included pages with pictures. It's just chibi drawings of some of the female cast members. If any of those Japanese translators I mentioned earlier are able to read what the booklet says, then I'll scan and upload the whole thing. Otherwise, forget it.

No reuploads unless there is something wrong with the links now (i.e. if I cannot download them myself). Others can post mirrors if they like, and I will edit this post to include them.

Thank you, sir! Looking forward to giving this one a spin tomorrow, finally... It's funny how I call myself a fan of Gundam music and yet have never heard these scores...!

Word up. But I thought you had heard the scores for Z Gundam, and that's why it didn't make it into your list of top Gundam OSTs. Either I jumped the gun on that assumption, or you originally checked out the three volume release for Z Gundam.

The Z Gundam soundtrack was originally released in a three-disc set, which included all the same music as in the special OST, only organized differently. This special OST organizes the songs in a more relevant manner and has better track names (if you can translate them).

Here's some advice for anyone interested in checking out the Z Gundam soundtrack. Either download the 3 volume set or the 2 disc special set (offered here), NOT BOTH. Another good idea is to make sure you have a music editing program, like mp3trim. If you do end up liking any of the songs in this OST, I can guarantee that it will be placed before, after, or in between some crappy part. mp3trim is a great way to cut the crap and keep the good stuff. That's what I did with the After War soundtracks, and it made that one of my favourite Gundam OSTs.

Booklet scans will be up later tonight.

You snooze, you lose. Sorry kid, but that's the game.

I'll be doing reuploads of stuff I've previously shared sometime next year. Either wait 'till then, or get it from another thread in this forum.

Wrong. It has every song that the original 3 volume BGM set had, which is to say, every song from the show. The only one that's missing is a strings-only version of "The Pursuer; c) Guerilla". That song has never been released on any album. Shame.
