SRS BIZNESS, guys.

I'm planning on spending some of my $900 stimulus cheque on Guitar Hero: World Tour or Rock Band.

The question I have is this: which one has better instruments? I know that Rock Band/GHWT on the 360 are compatible instrument wise, so I'm going to buy the band back of one and the standalone game of the other.

For those who have played both, or just own one, instrument reviews please.

(Also, I live in backwards Oz land, so we don't have Rock Band 2 - i'm referring to Rock Band 1 here).

Guitar Hero definitely has the better GUITARS in terms of durability. The early renditions of the drums have been known to be faulty as hell, mainly in the cymbals. But since you're only available with the RB1 set, you're better off risking the GH:WT drums.

Rock Band's instruments are fairly durable but not as much so as GH's. I tend to enjoy the guitars better because of the fret buttons in the neck rather than poking out, but that's me. Also, solo buttons > slider bar.

Noskill, which would you choose out of RB1 drums and WT drums?

Because instead of buying a set, I can buy a WT Guitar set (or Metallica guitar set - woooo), RB1 drums and Lips microphones. The WT instruments aren't available for separate purchase yet.

I'm not much of a drummer myself, hell my own drum set was used very sporadically. But to answer your question, the RB1 drums. Mainly because the newer models are less prone to be broke'd and I suck at drums so 4 pads > 5 pads. Also a little problem with the WT drums is there is no "holder" for the kick pedal, so there's a chance it'll inch along the floor as you keep hitting it.

On the other hand, the WT drums have a metal kick pedal. The RB1 drums do not, while the RB2 drums do... So since you're in "we got a new game that the world has enjoyed for a year" land, import the damned RB2 drums. :) Peripherals shouldn't have region restrictions, right?

I'm planning on buying both, just deciding what instruments to get. I'm getting WT first because i've already got DLC for it (the Death Magnetic album that's cross compatible with GH3), but i'll be picking Rock Band up as well.

I have, and play a piano - half the reason I enjoy Guitar Hero so much is because the gameplay - pressing buttons in time with music displayed on screen; is very similar to playing a piano.

I've actually confirmed this with two muso friends of mine - my friend who can play the guitar like a demon in real life struggles with Medium, while my piano playing friend and I went from Medium to Expert in two weeks.
