When you think of great video gaming systems, you might think of the Playstation III, Nintendo Wii, or Microsoft's XBox 360. Or perhaps you prefer playing games on your PC, or on a handheld system. Recently, video games have made their way to cellular phones and today Square Enix announced the newest advancement in video gaming-- titles developed for use on your microwave oven.

"With today's announcement, we're pleased to usher in the newest era in video-gaming technology," reports Radia Sploolfsy, a senior executive a Square-Enix. "Just two or three years ago, this would not have been possible, but it is now a reality, thanks to recent advancements in technology." Miss Sploolfsy reports that today's microwaves actually contain formidable processing power, far more than suspected by most general users, who mainly use them for thing such as warming up a burger or nuking the evening's TV dinner.

The original Final Fantasy will be the first title released, though Square-Enix is hoping to also release some of its more popular titles, such as Final Fantasy VII, should the idea catch on. Those who have purchased microwaves manufactured between 2007-2009 should be able to play without the need of any special upgrades. For those with microwaves made in 2006, the game should still be playable, though a special converter box will be required and some features of the game may be buggy. The game is expected to, in general, play like the original, though Aerith Gainsborough will be accessible as a special secret character.

Watch for news on Square-Enix's planned line of Stovetop Final Fantasy titles, coming soon...

I don't have a dishwasher. The whole point of a dishwasher is so you can walk away from the dishes.

They should port it to dishwater! That way I can wash dishes, without being bored out of my mind :D

Unless you meant your maid. Which is also a grand idea.

I'd like to see a port for Eyeglasses with a direct link to the central cortex of your brain for maximum playing capacity (and because I can't think of any other way you'd play it without a controller with a tiny cord that links to your glasses frame). That way I can play it while I'm doing just about anything!!

Edmond Dantes

i hear SE is making an organ grinder class for FF1: Microwave. you get in a battle, and start playing your organ grinder, then a little monkey leaps out of nowhere. he can do several things: claw, bite, poop (it explodes, ultima-style), throw feces (burns the enemy) or you -at random- will give the monkey an enema, which blasts the enemy off screen.

God damn I'm sick.

I'll definitely take the GBA version for its awesome bonus content! Those four additional dungeons really expand on the game.

jakob
01-08-2010, 07:13 AM
I thought the additional dungeons were annoying. They weren't necessarily difficult, they were just REALLY LONG.

CC
01-08-2010, 07:29 AM
They're a bit annoying when you accidentally stumble into them like I did without realizing it, but when you really buckle down and venture in with the intent to complete them, they can be pretty rewarding. I honestly feel that FFI&II Dawn of Souls, and FFIV Advance have the greatest bonus content to offer in any game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of games. RE4 comes in a close second to that with its bonus games.

As for the topic at hand, let's see SE release a 'choose-your-own-adventure' novel for FFI. "To use lightning, turn to page 457! To use fire, turn to page 576!" :D

I'm working on a graphic novel of that format right now, so I'm kind of in that mindset right now I guess.

Skullbug
01-10-2010, 09:32 AM
and before you know it SE will be releasing FFI for the tool box, for those times when your work or project has gotten out of hand ;)

Jonah

FFI and II for the iTouch and iPhone announced! This is no joke! Much rejoicing!

...But I have an iPod Classic. #%@

Also: Bonus dungeons were awesome. And some of them really were just...amazing...I couldn't sleep after completing floor 29 of Whisperwind Cove...and the first floor had this zombie castle with guards begging me to kill them...

And of course, Trogdor reference in Hellfire Chasm: "Trespassers will be burninated."
