Well I may have missed these but either way if anyone can help clear this up, it would be much appreciated.

One Rikku mentions that Yevon did something horrible to the Al Bhed before(this was on Macalonia lake, before Home was destroyed. So what was the horrible thing yevon did?

How did Jecht Get to Spira? we know Tidus got there by sin...and that was becasue he father was Sin.

How Long do Calms Last for?

1) I'm pretty sure she meant the hate all the Al Bhed received for the machinas. And the destruction of their city in the war.

2) I believe Jecht got there the same way. I don't remember though.

3) Not very long, less than 20 years since Yuna's father killed Sin before she did.

1) sin destroyed thier home, not yevon.

The calm lasts at least less than 10 I think. Yuna was apparently 6 when Braska defeated Sin, and presently she is 17.

Also, Auron states that 'I was just a boy, not much older than you.' to Wakka, when he is talking about his service as a guardian to Braska. Wakka is 23 and Auron is now 35. So 10 years ago, Auron wouldve been 25, 'not much older than you'.

Tidus says that Jecht went out to sea for training and never came back. I would assume he met Sin out there.

Im not sure about the Al Bhed one. Like you said, Yevon apparently did something 'really horrible' and that cant simply just be the global hate the Al Bhed get. It has to be an act. So maybe Sin razed their cities or something and they went and built home in the Desert away from sin? Not sure.

1. No one ever specifies what the "horrible thing" was.

2. Jecht came to Spira because he touched a different Sin. Then he became Sin and brought Tidus to Spira. What I want to know is how in the heck Auron got to Zanarkand. He said he "rode Sin", but wouldn't Sin have been dead by then? Or did he ride Jecht-Sin? He couldn't have because he took care of Tidus since he was a kid...

3. The Calm lasts for ten years.

I believe that Jecht had already become Sin by that time & somehow got Auron to Zanarkand.

That is impossible as Sin is only "reborn" every ten years so Tidus would be grown by the time Auron was allowed to ride Jecht-Sin and there is a scene that clearly shows Auron speaking to Tidus when he was still a child.

Where is it specified that the calm lasts for 10 years?

the calm lasts for ten years becauses in is revived every 10 years,
Tidus: i thought it was wierd, Yuna's father defeated sin ten years ago but its still alive, i never understood it until now.
That line kinda proves that sin is revived after evry 10 years, coz the time sin is gone is called the calm,
that was said on the mi'ihen highroad

Yevon destroyed the al bhed's "old" home ages ago,
the one we see in the game is a new place the al bhed call "home"
i remember rikku talking about how the al bhed were brought together from all over spira and brought to the "new" home

as for jecht,
Tidus: he went out to the sea/beach for some training and didnt come back.
he probably met Sin while training
can't remember when this was said tho

hope this helps

Where is it specified that the calm lasts for 10 years?

The two things FFX likes to cram down the gamer's throat is that it's been ten years since the last Sin "died" and that Spira is trapped in a cycle. It is quite safe to assume that since Spira is trapped within this endless cycle that each Sin is "reborn" every ten years.

I hardly think that's "crammed" down the gamers throat. If your world was trapped in an endless cycle of death and misery, I'm sure that wouldn't be the last thing on your mind. Also, if something has gigantic as Sin is just roaming the earth killing people, I'm sure that would be the talk all over. No matter how many years it has been going on for.

By "cramming down one's throat" I only meant the FFX puts a lot of emphasis on it which makes it safe to say that Spira is trapped in their endless cycle of Sin returning every 10 years. Didn't mean to cause offense or anything.

2) While out training for blitzball at sea, Jecht touches the fifth Sin, with Yocun's Final Aeon as its core, and is transported to Spira.

3) The Calm has never lasted as much as 10 years. I'm not completely sure, but I think the last Calm lasted about 6 months to at most a year.

If Sin had been running a muck for 8+ years there'd be no one left in Spira to kill it.

Why didn't all the people just move their villages about ten miles in off the coastline?

Erebus

I wondered that myself... I thought perhaps it didn't really matter where they lived as Sin could destroy coastal towns and his 'spawn' could destroy inland towns.

yea that sounds plausible. I mean sin didnt just begin attacking people again when Tidus showed up did he?? \how long ago did chappu die from sin??

Sin still exists during the calm, Yu Yevon is basically just "growing" him back to full strength during that time, so Auron would have ridden a baby Sin to Zanarkand, and Jecht would have probably still had a lot of his humanity left.

Sin can fly as well as swim, I don't think he'd have a problem reaching inland cities.

And as for the thing that happened to the Al Bhed's previous home, I'm fairly sure I remember Rikku or Cid mentioning it was destroyed by Bevelle. What I'd like to know is where this previous home is, surely there's ruins of it? Or perhaps it's the ruins you can see around Sanubia Desert, before you get to the new Home.
