This is a brilliant score from the first note to the end.
The music is dissonant in the first tracks, but slowly becomes more and more melodic until it reach almost operatic proportions in the last track, where the five note motif is fully played by the orchestra.
John Williams stated himself that this is his most favorite soundtrack to a Spielberg movie.

It is a soundtrack that deserves 5 stars. No less

Trivia: Williams said that he used 5 notes because 6 would be too melodic. 5 is the right number to make it sound like a code, rather than a theme. Despite that, this 5 note motif is one of the most recognizable in movie music history.

I too have this CD, and I keep hoping that there may be more music from the film (outtakes or variations or whatever) in the vaults to be someday released. I concur that Williams took this film as an opportunity be non-melodic in spots but very effective musically. Really a top-of-his-game piece of art, intellectually and musically moving with or without the visuals of the movie.

By a pure accident I discovered that also the AIMP Audio Converter can convert into split tracks that APE file

I had no idea what that CUE file always was. Stupid me
