You just wait a little bit, keep checking every now and then. There's a certain amount of time you have to be away from there (and Southgate obviously) before it happens. Do other things, check, and repeat.

There's a Seeq that changes his name to Weather Eye outside of the gate of Rabanastre, iirc. He can give you an estimate as to how long it'll be.

I believe that after it starts raining for the first time (for the story), it goes through a 3 hour cycle. This consists of 2 hours of Dry and 1 hour of Rains. Also take note that these are game-play hours, so you have to play for 2 hours or however long it is. I used the walkthrough by SplitInfinity at Gamespot if that helps any.

Also if I may add, I don't think you have to worry about "missing" the rain and staying for too long. By that I mean, if you're trying to get rain, and it's dry (or the other way around) once the timer reaches change-time, it'll stay that way until the next time you go to Giza or Southgate.

@zak
well it was always weird for me since i thought the RAIN would stay until another major event, i went out for questing and prioritized the ones that my party can handle, the last four consists of the paradise risen and paramina run, antlion infestation and the other one that i forgot X| i never expected it would change to dry

@neg
uhh where is he specifically found?

@wolf
well i can tell that i play for 5 hours straight for just leveling up JUST for THE HUNTS TO FINISH and recently i only visited once at giza plains RAIN mode (on the way to jahara) took me only 30 mins to clean up the withered trees, and i never went back to giza plains when i reached jahara. then when i went out to finish a hunt at that place it went dry :(

@all
so all i have to do now is wait for about a game time cycle of 3 hours then check back?
thanks for the help guys :)

I would say for you to check back every hour, since you don't know where you are in the cycle.

Are you trying to do the Gil Snapper hunt? If so, just remember that simply having the rains isn't enough-- he'll only appear once there's a heavy rain in the section he appears in, so just keep trying.

He's outside whatever gate of Rabanastre leads out to Giza. Not in Giza, but in the area outside of the gate that is part of Rabanastre.

I can't remember what cardinal direction the gate is.

Offhand, I think it's the South Gate, though I could be wrong. In any case, it's the gate that contains the Gate Crystal.

@wolf
ok, will find a way to dispose time to check on it :)

@neg
hmmm... i'll find him though, im using a walkthrough so he never mentioned anything about a seeq that would tell when it rains, he just mention the RAIN PHASE :(

@agent
that's not a problem, in the walkthrough im using there's a way of finding him, much like the sandstorm in windtrace dunes, :)

I'm surprised that guide neglected to mention "Weather Eye" -- he's the easiest way by far to gauge the changing of the seasons.

I don't think altering the state of the rains is too difficult.What I always when I want only cloudy and it's heavily raining is exit the region(aka Giza Plains/Phon Coast/etc) and re-enter.After a few tries I always get the type of weather I'm looking for.

the rain..that's such an idle topic! go tear it up in the Necrohol of Nabudis!

j/k, hope you finish questing/hunting, I hope you never get the staff of magi or zodiac spear..
