Why not do it in .aac format if you're going to redo the entire collection?

I did not give much informations that's true.. it's not about "ripping" my own cds.. but albums that i have gathered..
You can't always choose what you find, especially on the older albums.

It's just a what's good and what sucks thread.
I never heard of that "Plugger" encoder.. i wanted some feedback about it (not that i am gonna use it in any way).

That's still pretty vague, but if you're talking about a collection of downloaded soundtracks [in a lossy format], then you're better off just leaving them in whatever format they're in now. Otherwise, you're just going to degrade the quality.

As for .aac, think of it as a simplistic mp4, which is better than an mp3 or at least that's what they're saying.

"Acceptable quality" for an mp3 is different for each person, but I always do the highest quality possible as anything else would be uncivilized. Also keep in mind that the quality of an mp3 is only as good as the medium its played through.

Indeed i always encode mp3 in highest settings 320 kbps.
The program i use is winlame.
windows media player i set mp3 quality also to 320 kbps, for ripping cd to mp3.

I use one file format wich is mp3.
If i found a other file format on audio files i will encode the files to mp3.
Why?, causes mp3 is standart now (mostly used by mp3 players and dvd players).
sry double post !
