I already own an Xbox 360, do you think it's worth getting a PS3? Is it worth the money? Are there enough PS3 exclusive games.?

I'd say go for it.

I have both consoles, and although I use my 360 a lot more than my PS3, I'm quite glad I have a PS3 for the exclusive games like Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4 or WipeOut HD (to name a few), as well as for the Blu-Ray player ( isn't The Dark Knight a great movie!!! - I got it for X-Mas ^_^).

And I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff coming in 2009 for that system.

Having both systems let you get the best of both worlds.

If you've got the money go for it, I don't see how it'd hurt. PS3 has some great titles, and will most likely get a lot more.

Yes. It has some great exclusive titles and the blu-ray player is a big bonus.

I'd get it. I wanted one for Christmas (so I didn't have to buy one next month) mainly for the blu-ray and soon-to-be-games, but I ended up getting just a blu-ray player for Christmas. Kinda sucks because I told them I'm getting a PS3 anyway so the player would just be collecting dust.

There's also a few imports that are pretty good. You should look into some.

Yeah, the Bluray is a really nice feature. I'm also a Metal Gear fan so I will probably get one soon. I'm first going to buy an LCD TV to support the Bluray though...

Save your money. PS3 sucks. Get an Atari 2600.

If you do get PS3 make sure you get Little Big Planet.

For sure. Metal Gear, Little Big Planet, Drake's Fortune, GTA IV and some others are games I'm getting.

I personally wouldn't get it just yet. Sure the system has a Blu-Ray Player, but you'll only see the full picture quality of those if you have a HD i1080p signal television. Otherwise it's no different than watching DVD's on a regular television.

PS3 only has five exclusive games worth playing. Heavenly Sword, Drake's Fortune, Resistance, Metal Gear Solid 4, Disagea 3.

All of the multi-platform games look and play better on the Xbox360 or the PC.

2009 might be a better year for the PS3 with all the sequels and more exclusives coming out.

For sure. Metal Gear, Little Big Planet, Drake's Fortune, GTA IV and some others are games I'm getting.

I borrowed GTA IV off my brotherr recently. Played the first 3 missions, and gave it back to him. I would say I was disappointed with it. But to be honest, I don't really know what I was expecting. The series can't really get much different than it is now anyway. It seemed just like the others, only it looked prettier and the controls were different. I'll quit my GTA adventure with San Andreas.

My point? Don't include GTA IV as a reason you're thinking of getting one.

I'll agree with the people saying "if you have the money, buy it". I payed towards mine that I got at Christmas. And I'm glad I did. And there are plenty of great games out. I know I've not done so much disk swapping in one week as I did over Christmas.

HOME has potential to be huge. Blu-ray is an added bonus. And with the likes of Resident Evil 5 and Killzone 2 round the corner, things are only going to get better. 2007 was a bad year for the PS3. 2008 a much better year. And 2009 looks set to be an amazing year.

Buy one!

thought i'd add my 2 cents. atm a 1080p tv isn't really needed for ps3 as the games only support 720p. if your gonna get loads of blurays though, get a 1080p tv.

Wow, only January and we have a runner for dumbest statement of 2009.

Didn't like GTA4? Try Saint's Row 2. You'll love it!

WipeOut HD, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (and it runs at 60fps as well ^^), The Darkness, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Tekken 5, Ridge Racer 7, and MLB The Show are all games that I know run at a 1080p native resolution. :P

I believe that was my point. I wasn't talking about the games. I was talking about watching Blu-Ray movies in full HD i1080p.

I never said I didn't like it. But I played about an hour of it, and it didn't seem anything different to what has been done before. It looked nicer, and it was in a new setting. It could have been called GTA Liberty Vice Andreas (Yes, it's not the best way to argue my point. But you see what I mean?)

In a nutshell; I have quite a few games sat here. None of which are going to make room for GTA IV.

Still, you have to love Roman "tit-ees" Belic.

If GTA IV does anything better than all the other games from the same category, it would be the narrative. And the characterization is among the best from any games I know.

But I can understand why you'd say the game doesn't offer much new stuff when compared to the others in the series, except for what I mentioned earlier.

It's a good thing that I didn't play San Andreas and Vice City after GTA III. GTA IV was good and new enough for me because of that I suppose.

If you love Metal Gear and looking for one of the cheapest and best blu-ray players ya can find, then BUY IT!!

If not, then look elsewhere.

I recommand Metal Gear Solid 4 for all those PS3 owners.

I'm not even gonna kid myself, for the most part this statement is true (yes, I said it), with the exception of some games like BioShock and Dirt. But compairing multi-platform games is like compairing identical twins. They're both pretty much the same, but not really. 360 seems to be the most popular when it comes to a comfortable controller, but at least online gaming on the PS3 is free, and it has also gotten a lot better since the PS3 came out.

As for HD, it is true that most of the PS3 games only go up to 720p. Of all 18 games I have (not including games I've downloaded from the PlayStation Store) Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue are the only ones that go up to 1080p. Not really an issue for me though because my TV only goes up to 720p anyway.

As for games, for the most part I couldn't be any happier with many of the PS3 exclusive games I have: LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Warhawk, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD. Just a few games that I think are worth getting a PS3 for. Heavenly Sword is a personal favorite of mine, but you'll either love it or hate it. Also, Killzone 2 comes out next month and it's already looking great. If you don't already have/played BioShock, that's a multi-platform game that is awesome sauce on the PS3. Some 3rd Party devs are now starting to show PS3 some love like EA and Capcom. And last I heard, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still PS3 exclusive.

As for Blu-ray, if you do end up getting a PS3 and an HDTV, you'll want to own the Dark Knight, Transformers, I Am Legend, V for Vendetta, Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 and 300. You'll thank me later. I personally don't think it's necessary to get older movies or movies that aren't so modern in special effects on Blu-ray. the last few DVDs I got in the last few months are the Darjeeling Limited, Shaun of the Dead and Blow because I can't see myself spending $20+ on these movies on Blu-ray.

Regular DVDs being upscaled on the PS3 are good enough for me.

The only game out that I want for XBOX is Fable II atm, so I would probably lean towards PS3, but that's my opinion. Why not downgrade to a Sega-CD and play some Willy Beamish or Rocket Knight?
