I just got on the Airship after the Al Bhed Home was destroyed, so I just wonder... When is the best time to try to get the Celestial Weapons? It is a grueling ordeal, I know, so I want to start on it as soon as possible.

Those FUCKING FUCKING birds never get easier. Dodging lightning is fun, though.

Yeah, start on the sigils as soon as ya can. Play some blitzball so you can get Wakka's actual weapon. Though, you should be doing that already, seeing as it is the most enjoyable thing about the game~

It depends. I have beaten the game more than once, and it was only on the last time that I got everything. If you're planning on breeding monsters etc, I'd suggest going for them after you beat yunalesca. That's the point in which you can do everything else before finishing the main game. Anima and the Magus Sisters and all that stuff.

Then, when everything else is beat, go do the last part of the story. Which will be a piece of piss once you have everything, and then you have fully completed X.

Well, that's what I did anyway.

Thanks, guys!

I will start collecting the weapons I need (only the ones I need for my three main characters), as soon as I have beaten Yunalesca. Normally I would get all of them, but I am dying to start on FFXII, and I don't want to start on that one, until I have completed X.

Ugh, I recently beat FFX and actually got all the ultimate weapons. Kimarhi's seems to be the easiest to max out.

I fucking HATED the challenge for the Sun Sigil. I managed to get it buy getting 13 ballons and getting hit by no birds. Dodge Lightning was just tedious, but not as bad as Blitzball.

it took me 100 games to get Wakka's Ultimate Weapon and I NEVER wanna play that game again.

Actually the balloon pattern does change and come out random each time, so that is sort of a factor of how easy this will be.

The butterflies are the one that drove me crazy.

The only celestial items I believe you can attain before Yunalesca is Tidus' Sun Sigil in the Calm Lands and Wakka's Jupiter Sigil through blitzball any time after you get his attack reels, status reels, and aurochs' reels, Yuna's Nirvana (although you can't power it up) in the Calm Lands, and maybe Kimahri's Saturn Crest in Gagazet. I waited until I got the airship, though, to get them.

Kimahri's Crest chest doesn't appear there until after Yunalesca, for some reason.

Where is the best place to power up your characters? I still have quite a lot of spheres to fill out.

As for the weapons; I'll only get the ones for my three main characters. I tried to catch the butterflies when I first visited Macalania forest, and it made me want to stab someone. Dodging lightning is quite easy, but I loathe Blitzball. I sincerely hate it.

Omega Ruins, in my opinion. Use the locater on the airship to find it. Just don't go too far in yet...

X axis - 69-75

Y axis - 33-38

I actually know that off by heart......good lord.

Edit* You might not be strong enough to beat the fiends in Omega Ruins at the moment. In which case, I'd reccomend inside Sin, or the Zanarkand Ruins

best place is by far the training arena in the calm lands. using the don tonberry method, you can get dozens of spheres and moves.

I never completed the monster arena part of X. Mostly because I don't like to cheat. When I was showing someone else who didn't have time to play Legend of Dragoon the ending of it, they were telling me to just use the highest attack ability the whole time after getting to the fifth transformation of the boss Melbu Frahma, but the whole point of that game was drama and build-up, Final Fantasy games have space for that and max-damage spamming though.

I remember the lighting, the birds, and the blitzball but that's about it. Strangely the coin sphere game was more appealling than blitzball..but that's X-2. Is the X-2 version of blitzball worse than X's for anyone else?

Both of those drive me nuts, too, but I find both of them doable. What drives me absolutely bonkers is those damn butterflies. I never did manage to complete that and, as such, Kimahri's Celestial Weapon was the only one that I never fully powered up. I eventually gave up caring because I don't really care for Kimahri in battle anyway.

Oh yes, definitely. Sphere Break, on the other hand, as you said, is awesomeness.

LOL @ the censorship.

Anyways, thanks Neg, but maps are available on the Internet fairly easily. In fact, I think I've tried with maps before, but even with the maps, I'm hopeless at it. But, like I said, I've made my peace with it-- I really don't care about using Kimahri in battle, so I don't need his Celestial Weapon.

There's a book of statistics in the Travel Agency, though it has to be 200 consecutive in order to get the Sigil.

Capture a Ghost monster from the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth and keep fighting it in the monster arena until you get one. Or a weapon with No Encounters from the monster in the Ba'aj Temple, the one that originally attacked Tidus at the start of the game. Save/reset trick if needed.

I just finished three hours of that stupid chocobo race business to get Tidus' Caladbolg. Endless races of re-starting if the balloons weren't on the right hand side to begin with... ugh, what a horrible side-quest! Yuna's Nirvana seemed ridiculously easy to obtain in comparison - the worst thing about the Celestials is the fact that the ways to get them are seriously unbalanced difficulty-wise.

Solaris

I FINALLY DODGED ALL THOSE LIGHTENING BOLTS! I'm never erasing this game file. EVAR.

I just have Auron and Kimahri left to do. And I honestly don't think I care enough about Kimahri to go through the trouble. But for the sake of getting everything . . . ugh.

Despite all this tedious work just to get ultimate weapons, FFX has seriously become my favorite Final Fantasy.

Btw, what are the best armours to use? Or is it just best to customize them?

Ceidwad
03-24-2009, 06:25 PM
I have custom armours (the Tetra gear Rin sells with 4 free slots are pretty good for this, but quite pricey too.). I usually go for max HP first and foremost, so all characters have a minimum of Break HP Limit and HP +30% on them.

Then again, I literally haven't played FFX in years. At least two, if not three. I really need to play it again sometime.

I believe you need Wings to Discovery (x30?) for that. I remember getting 10 from mugging the Ultima Weapon, but I'm not sure how else to get them. That chocobo race at Remiem, maybe?

Agent0042
03-24-2009, 10:50 PM
Yes, you can from the Remiem race, though that's a one-time thing. If you want more, you either Bribe a Malboro (it's supposed to be 540,000 gil for four) or something like 1,280,000 for 8 from a Great Malboro, though the exchange rates aren't definite in the U.S. version.

And Rin doesn't sell armor with four empty slots. That's Wantz, if you helped out O'aka consistently.

Ceidwad
03-25-2009, 01:52 AM
Shows how much I remember then. About Rin, that is.

Am I right in thinking you can also get Wings to Discovery from the battle Arena? One of the 'original' battles? Pretty sure I remember getting 30 of them for beating something.

Agent0042
03-25-2009, 04:54 AM
The original creation Shinryu, but it's nowhere near 30. One for normal kill, two for an Overkill, assuming you don't get Dark Matter (rare) instead. In the U.S. version, the fact that the species and original creations sometimes drop Dark Matter is really a bit of annoyance, since the item isn't particularly useful and you get 99 for unlocking Ultima Buster anyway. But in the International version, you can customize Ribbon onto an armor by using 99 Dark Matters-- highly useful.

The rewards from the Arena master are simply for unlocking the monsters. You don't actually have to beat them to get those rewards.

World Champion + Attack Reels + Wakka at 255 Strength = Pwnage.

If you really want the exact numbers, I've posted them somewhere around here. There's a specific strategy for Nemesis, too. Let me know when you get there. Having Wakka, Yuna, and Tidus at 255 speed helps bunches on that.

At the moment I'm in the thunder plains though.. Not sure wether to challenge the lightning and do it 200 times yet though. That was one which I never really could be bothered to do.

PLUS - Cleaning up the sphere grid: Does the character need to be next to a sphere to clear it? 'cause if they do, does that mean I have to get loads of sphere levels just to max them out? And to do that I need to kill the monster arena fiends. How can I kill them when I don't have people at 255 attack yet?

Run Wakka through his track and Auron's and you should be able to take out the early arena monsters as long as you have World Champion for Break Damage Limit.

I had enough trouble trying to win the initial catcher race so I could get Caldborg so I can't even begin to imagine the pain I'll go through when I try to get the sun signil, I couldn't even do that stupid ********* hunt thing.
