I've done a few searches here on the forums for the soundtrack from FFVII: Advent Children, but none contain the soundtrack from the DVD's main menu.

Has anyone ripped that one? or is it just not possible?

Thanks!

Which DVD menu? I'll have to check...is it the main disc? PAL or NTSC-U or NTSC-J? Collectors or reg disc? I have 'em all not sure which one you're talking about.

Yeah you can rip it yourself w/ DVD Audio Extractor http://www.tucows.com/preview/343833, it should be able to do menu music...if it can't let me know and I'll have a look at it.

It's the main DVD, the one the movie's in on the NA version (that would be the NTSC-U i think) of the regular edition.

I'll download and give that thing a try, thanks!

As for as the ogg, that's in your output settings...you can outout in WAV, MP3, OGG, Ac3 etc.

You don't want to rip the whole DVD or you'll wind up w/ the movie's audio...you have to hunt down the menu (if it even is listed there). If it isn't this will require some special ripping, not sure off hand what to use LMK if you can't get it and I'll have a look.

Usually menu music is only around 30 sec. and the music is usually available on the OST. Are you certain that this is a full length song and isn't released on the OST? Is it worth ripping?

The reason I am asking is I don't want to waste an hour ripping this if it's on the OST or if it's just a 30 sec clip menu music sample (not worth it for me).

What I will have to do is:

1. Rip the DVD to my HDD

2. Figure out which Video Object File (VOB) contains the menu music (usually the first one).

3. Demux the VOB file into m2v/ac3 files

4. Convert the AC3 file to mp3

5. Zip it and upload it.

I don't feel like doing this for a 30 sec clip or a song that is on the OST...to time consuming.

The soundtrack is indeed around 30secs long and yes, i'm sure it's not on the OST....i ripped all of them just to be sure.

Thanks anyways!

I'll tell you how to give it a go...I am busy w/ other VGM related releases (not being a jerk);)

1. I like DVD Decryptor (use whatever you want) as long as it has DeCSS since the R` is CSS protected (PAL has addtional protection).

DVD Decryptor: http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/DVD_Decrypter/4-75586-1.html

2. After the files are ripped to your HDD, you have to manually click on the .VOB files and play them to see which is the menu - as I said it is probabloy a small file and usually 0.0X series. Windows Media Player will do it as long as you have a DVD AC3 codec installed.

3. Once you find it load it up and demux it into two files m2v (video) and ac3 (audio).

PgcDemux: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PgcDemux

4. Convert AC3 to MP3.

I am not sure what the best tool to use is since I don't usually do it, but I guess you can try AC3 ACM Decompressor: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AC3_ACM_Decompressor

Make sure to share the file after your hard work ;)

And if you can't do it and you tried...I promise to do it for you, won't let you waste your time. I'm a little busy so dunno when it will be...first try it, learning sometimes is a paind but it becomes useful in the future...you don't have to rely on other ppl.

Let me know how you do and ask my any questions.

I meant VTS_1x sets above.

You can get the full song from the FFVII Reunion Tracks, it's just Sephiroth's Theme. All I did was copy the file and put it as track one. That's all they did, cut that song, it's the bonus track Sephiroth's Theme, I think. One of the Seph's Themes.
