I know I sound like a stupid nerd asking this, but what is the equation for finding the attack damage using the Strength and Vitality numbers? Is it the same as the damage calculations using Magic and Spirit, although you have to factor in the spell-power too? I've been trying to look this up but nobody seems to know.

Attack is based on Strength (and maybe Vitality, not to sure about it though)
I doubt any equation could help you, because you see. There are tons of variables involved with the attack damage thing:
1. The monsters lvl
2. The monsters type (fire, water, ice etc. etc.)
3. You're elemental attack junction.
4. Your current weapon, hit percentage.

Then again, I could also be wrong but still, Imo too many things involved to form an actual equation and I've always thought that Vitality wasn't involved with your attack damage, just your defense.

Vitality if I am sure I'm correct, is the stat in which your HP gets higher, the more Vitality you have, the more HP you have. It doesn't have any effect in the fight, unless you think of your HP as a huge concern (therefore you haven't trained enought). It does help also if you've junctioned magic such as fire to your attack if your fighting a oil/ice type of monster. I dont know if thats gonna help you much though?

PS If you really wanna try and get the strongest anyone can ever get, max out all the stats, and then try and figure what kind of monster you'll be fighting next, and then change your junctions if need be.

Well, as Saber said damage in HP's changes depending on the enemies defense, although there may be a percentage increase in strength along with each stat point, for example if you have 240 stat points under strength then your average damage may be 2400, but if you have 241 under strength your average damage may be 2410 increasing the same amount at each stat point increase, however it may be a random which sometimes increases damage by 1% and sometimes increases damge by 5%.

But that being said there must be some kind of randomness (I don't think that even a real word) because if you attack the same creature twice in one battle with the same character then usually the damage done is marginally different.

In conclusion this most likely sonds like a load of crap... ohh, and there is most likely no one equation which you can use to find the amount of damage done to an enemy in relation to simply stats (Strength wise or defense wise).

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Hit stat has no effect on strength. That is just to do with the accuracy of physical attacks, not the strength of them.

Vitality has no effect on the HP stat. HP is it's own seperate junction. Vitality is the defence against physical attacks. So the higher your vitality, the less damage you should take from the enemy's physical attacks.

So, don't forget that the enemies too have vitality stats, we just can't see them. By scanning the enemies we get a rough ides of what their vitality stat may be by how far along the bar is. But that is yet another factor that would have an effect here. Using the Meltdown spell on an enemy to reduce their vitality to 0 would be about the only good way of trying to find a formula here.

I don't know about a formula myself, but I've seen that the range of damage cused by physical attacks seems to increase as you get stronger. For example, early on you may only cause around 60Hp damage per attack, but it won't range to be more than about 10 away from that. Later on when you cause more damage, there seems to be a greater variation in the maximum and minimum power of a physical attack.

I remember someone trying to find similar equations for this before at another board and also with FF9, but that was only for specific attacks, and he didn't really get that far anyway. So this isn't really a very easy thing to work out. I think we should just stick with the fact that if you have a high strength stat, you will cause a lot of damage with your physical attacks. ;)
