Enhanced graphics and load times are probably a given, but what features would you have included if you could direct the remake to one of the FFs?

For a remake on FFTactics I would probably add more jobs, give the same feel of story, also I wouldn't enhance the graphics but I would give it Co-Op and VS. (including online to both)
FFTA2 IS A TERRIBLE GAME AND NOT WORTHY OF THE ORIGINAL! Same for you FFTA >.>
EDIT: Whenever graphics are enchanced time is lost, when time is lost the gameplay and story aren't as good.

I'll use FFVII as an example since that what everyone talks about, but this would apply to any FF remake for it to be ideal in my book:

-Don't change the story. At all. NOTHING about it, everything that was canon before should stay canon. The script can change as long as they don't change the basic story and backstory. The script does not have to be the same word-for-word, that's the point of a remake, tell the same story with your own better script.
-Voice acting... meh, it's inevitable if they're gonna remake something NOW. Might as well.
-Better graphics, keep most of the cities and give us a deja-vu feel into the world kind of like X-2 did since we were revisiting the same cities and stuff, except better graphics and the state of the places should stay the same. Maybe get rid of some towns/locations or add some new towns/locations, as long as it doesn't affect the story. Like, if they got rid of, say, Junon and replaced it with something different for the story, that would be awful. But if they got rid of... the Sunken Gelnika, that wouldn't be a huge deal since we don't really need it.
BUT, new sidequests are always welcome if they can be fit in without changing anything, and even better if they add something that's to reveal more of the backstory to be considered, like the Vincent/Lucrecia thing at the waterfall, except something else (not that any more backstory is needed for FFVII, but like I said this is stuff that would be welcome in any FF remake). Midgar in PS2 graphics would be awesome.
-Improve the quality of the music if needed.
-Do what they want with the battle system, it doesn't have to stay the same. As a matter of fact, if they ever remake FFX in 10 years, changing the battle system would be great.

Basically... remember Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green, how it stuck to Red/Blue's story and script and events yet replaced some of the old sidequests/secrets with some of it's own new ones, and gave GBA graphics and the advanced battle system? Well, this is the kind of thing I'd want to see for any FF-remake.

If they ever decide to render the classics in 3D, well, that'd be great. Setzer in Kingdom Hearts II is the perfect ideal example.

I was thinking 'remake' meant a second version like X-2, where the story was one of it's own. However, one downside of X-2 was it didn't keep the same feel as the last story, different ambience.

Any game today should have some kind of multiplayer and/or interconnectivity.

Also, free beer with every purchase

I agree....actually a Six-pack of beer with every purchase.

Wireless connection on the PSP is awesome (Loving Wipeout Pulse atm) so every game should definitely include this function.

Good to know someone agrees with me, after all the hype about FFTA2 coming out I was fearing people actually considered the first good...

I agree. Classics in 3D, keep to the original storyline.

X-2, yeah I thought it would be an ACTUAL long story game like X was. How disappointed and pissed off I was, but I won't give it up until I complete it.

Well, you do know Square Enix did all of this with the FFT remake: FF Tactics: The Lion War on the PSP?

New Jobs (well, only two - Dark Knight and Onion Knight), same story with some slight additions and tweaks, same graphics with new animated cutscenes, plus online co-op and versus modes via the PSP's Wi-fi function. It's all there. :)

Back on topic though, despite my current obsession with FFXI, and have no problem with it being online-only, I would still like to see an offline FFXI tie-in game released, possibly in the style of FF Tactics. Maybe set it during the fall of Tavnazia to the beginning of the 'present day', and help fill in all the missing pieces that haven't been covered in FFXI's story.

But I'm just rambling here. ;)
