The point of this thread is obvious; most of us have at least one show you love hopelessly.

I apologize if this thread has existed before; but if so, it hasn't been done in a while.

I'll go first:

Obviously we've all heard of this show, it was a huge hit from 98 to 06. I swear, I'm so obsessed with this show. I own the whole series and have watched it through like eight times, more or less while I'm doing freelance work or playing an MMO or something, rarely I just sit and watch.

I swear; I act exactly like Eric Forman [Topher Grace's character] IRL, like down to every little mannerism, I think that's what attracted me to it in the first place. Balls yeah.

Okay, you go, faggots.

Currently I watch House and True Blood for running shows. The Secret Life of the American Teenager too but that is freaking horrible/embarassing. I should probably get back to watching the last season of Stargate: Atlantis. I used to watch the show religiously.

I also am making my way through various Star Trek series. I've seen part/most of TOS, finished TNG, mostly through DS9, in the early seasons of Voyager. I hate the captain from Enterprise so I don't know if I'll watch that one ;x

I also watch Scrubs a decent bit when it's on tv late at night, since I don't get cable. I used to watch a lot of Top Chef and Top Model. I like career type reality show contests.

Need to finish watching Arrested Development and then get into It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

edit: this post is more of a "what tv shows do you watch" rather than what the topic actually asked for

I'm addicted to...

HOUSE
Awesome show. Hugh Laurie is the shizzle.

AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE
Awesome show. Meatwad is the shizzle.

FRISKY DINGO
Awesome show. I litterlawl at every single episode. Killface4life, sukka!!

GHOST HUNTERS
Very cool show. They try to find ghosts but they don't just accept everything as being paranormal. They actually try to shoot for the reasonable/realistic answer first before assuming it's ghostly activity which is rare with shows of similar genres.

HEROES
Awesome first season. Alright second season. Crappy third season. But I'm addicted all the same.

I'll come up with others later.

...but when it comes to good ol' American television, I am addicted to Friends. About a couple months ago, I was at home, and then I realized I haven't seen it in a long time.
So I made a VOW to watch more Friends, and I watch it whenever I can now.
As far as anime, I have to say Karin.

Propz to mr. patterson for being the only person to have mentioned it, maybe Irish people just like better shows than the rest of you, but without any doubt, exaggeration or hyperbole, the Wire is the greatest TV show ever made.

I’ve only watched seasons 1 and 2, started the third on Saturday night, but it is absolutely stunning television. The complexity of the plot, the dialogue, the massive ensemble cast and the protracted nature of the cases all probably contributed to the commercial failure of the show, as well as underlining its unflinching commitment to realism, but give it a chance and it will blow you away. The characters and the world they inhabit is so rich and so real, never opting for the easy options of coincidence or contrived plot devices, that it becomes more than mere drama and becomes almost a work of non-fiction detailing the drugs war in Baltimore. If you saw Louis Theroux’s Law and Disorder in Philadelphia just before Christmas, it was like watching an episode of the Wire, so successful have the producers been in creating a world that is believable and real.

Not that the drama isn’t there though, this show has had me stare wide mouthed at the screen and just whisper “fuckkkk” on dozens of occasions. I mean, in the penultimate episode of season 2 when Frank Sobotka, the lad in my avatar, goes to meet the Greek and you as the viewer see the FBI man phone the Greek and it cuts back to Frank as he advances towards the Greek, fuck me, what a show. That last bit probably made little to no sense if you haven’t seen the show, I’m trying to give as little as possible away, but the point is, this show is amazing.

The quality of the story is second to none, again firmly rooted in reality with the police and the drug dealers inhabiting their own intricate networks of power and those who suffer most always somewhere near the foot of the food chain, the real bastards- on both sides- always slipping away. It’s not a simple joust between “good and evil” with the police equally capable of committing morally reprehensible acts as their criminal counterparts and many of the drug dealers forced into their situation by economic hardship or the failings of the governmental institutions and schools to give them the opportunities to escape the street. The show offers no easy answers, because there aren’t any, but merely displays the problems for the viewer to witness and make their own conclusions on.

Credit must go to the writers, directors and producers behind this masterpiece as well as to the actors who all individually excel and tie the show together perfectly. If you haven’t watched the Wire, do so as a matter of urgency, if you have, I bet you’ll agree with me.

The four shows that come very close to the level attained by the Wire are: the Sopranos, Freaks and Geeks, Cowboy Bebop and Planet Earth. Other good shows are: House, Come Dine with Me, the Daily Show and Grand Designs.

For me it's Home Movies. I've watched at least one episode a day for the last year and it seems now that every single everyday problem can be related to an episode from the show for me. I watch it when I get home from work, when I eat, before I sleep. I even have it on while I talk to people on the phone so my eyes don't get bored. To me it's comfort food, it always puts me in a good mood.

Yeah, I tend to go on these kicks where I watch a show over and over for weeks and sometimes months on end. I haven't watched Home Movies in a little while but lately I've constantly been watching Grounded for Life. And before Home Movies it was The Office, before that, Red Dwarf.
