Since 2006 I was looking for this score to no avail :

Shaiya (2005) by George Oldziey http://www.oldzieymusic.com/index.php (the composer of Wing Commander 3, 4 and 5).

"This Korean massively multiplayer game features 21 awesome orchestral compositions by George Oldziey. Many of the pieces are distinctly reminiscent of his classic Wing Commander music. For Oldziey fans, this album is a real treat of familiar goodness."

It's a superb symphonic score. It features an 80 piece orchestra and choir, all recorded at Warner Bros. in LAI. f you liked Lair or Lineage 2 you should definitely try this one.

Thanks to Laei, the nice lady who helped me find it.

First of all... ROWL.

Second of all, I wish to complain! This thing is TOO DAMN SHORT! ;)

Wonderful score, but if only it were two hours long...

Here's a comment of the composer, George Oldziey, about this score :

A lot of it is influenced by the Wing Commander music I've previously composed. Actually, I thought it might be fun for you all to try to guess which Wing Commander pieces influenced which Shaiya pieces. Check it out! BTW, the coolest thing is that it's all LIVE ORCHESTRA and CHOIR!!! Something I tried for years to get Origin to support. It was recorded at the Clint Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. just a few week ago. Enjoy!

I greatly recommend you to listen to his Wing Commander 3 and 4 scores if you can find them. They're marvelous osts for all Space-Opera fans.

For WC3 I can help. ;)

All right, here's the thing.

The score of WC3 was only ripped as midis. There's one version sampled with a synth and posted on the official site but the sound is ... not very good.

So I did my own personal sampling of WC3 with my own soundfont. I was told it sounds rather good. But I'll let you judge.

Here's a sample containing 3 tracks of my rendering. Give it a listen and tell me if you want more.

Well, I'm really loving the Wing Commander MIDIs - and your renderings kick the arse off of the rubbish on the site, Arthierr.

Anyway, I was just having a play around and I fully orchestrated a minute or so for full symphony orchestra and pushed it through my synth. It's awfully raw and rough at the moment - it only took about half an hour.

Here it is if anybody's interested... One step closer to how fantastic this would sound performed by real people... I'm having some software problems at the moment in my studio so I've only got eight tracks... Or this would be an awful lot more florid.

(I haven't done much - just divided up the brass as it would be in an orchestra, given the celli and double basses a bit more to do, and added some notes here and there (the trumpets at 0:57 are mine - you can probably tell by the fact that they come in really late... What can I say - I'm sleepy...) Just try to imagine what it would sound like if I were awake and paying attention and didn't have a broken computer.

If I get the time I might orchestrate some of the other cues and maybe do a fully symphonic suite. If I get the time... :/

Just tell me if you want this out of your thread - but I thought I might as well stick it here since you're interested and it's not really worthy of its own thread yet...

I've had my orchestrator's hat on again this evening and I've been playing around with a bit more of WC3. Here's the latest ***RUBBISH TEST*** - a new arrangement of "Escort".

This isn't for purists. I've changed an awful lot of notes, and completely re-wrote the ending (just for pure fun, I ended on a massive sci-fi cliche) - all sorts. Basically I'm just having a massive amount of fun arranging for ridiculously big brass section.

A few bits I particularly like - at 0:47, the original was scored for a choir - but I gave their part to two solo trumpets - I can't begin to tell you how much I love the trumpet...

Half the strings are missing - I know. Believe me, this will sound a whole site better when I get it all together. This is only about half as many instruments playing as will be in the final piece. I'm kinda tentatively planning a 15 minute symphony based on the score.

Anyway - enjoy, if you dare...

Very nice score. I think the main titles were influenced by Silvestri's Mummy Returns. I hear the makings of some very good themes, but yeah, the tracks are way too short. Even for an mmorpg, I don't see why he made them that way. Maybe it would have been too costly to rehearse/record. Or are they for cutscenes (and if so, where is the in-game music?)

Speaking of Korean mmorpgs, has anyone heard the soundtrack to ZerA Imperan Intrigue? The waltz is incredible.

Nice ending. You're right for the strings. Some really good trumpets part. If you improve it please post again.

Interesting, could be great if more developped, you should use several samples to make a song more varied. Also I personally would have used a stronger beat (power bass/drums). A good beginning overall.

I have downloaded some songs of Shaiya off the main website and it has really good music. Thank you. ^_^

I like Rohan and Lunia so far. I had the OST for Lunia, but I picked my favorite songs and I ended up with a little. As for Rohan, I downloaded what they had on their site which is like 10 songs, but it was definitely not the whole OST I don't think.
