just thought id mention some things i did when i played and completed ff8 including beating omega weapon. from the beginning dont fight anyone at all, except for bosses so that you dont level up, (run away from all fights at the beginning). make sure you pick up a rosetta stone from the prison by playing cards. then once you have gf's ifrit, siren, carbuncle and leviathan head over to the desert to fight cactuars which give you no exp but lots of ap. use the ap to learn str bonus, vit bonus, mag bonus and spr bonus. use the rosetta stone so you can equip all 4 to squall and head over to balamb garden. first head to the dormitory where you can get squall on his own then go to the training area and train squall up to level 100. the t-rexuars can be taken out in no time by using 100 bios on status attack. and also cast blind on t-rexaur. once squall is trained up to level 100 do the same for 1 other character except Rinoa because she is unusable for quite a long time. Now you have 2 decent characters and 1 character in training for you to continue the story with. be sure to fight and mug tri-faces many times to pick up 100 curse spikes which in turn can be refined into a rosetta stone (I refined 3 rosetta stones using this technique) . once you have the gf Cactuar you can now train 2 characters at once, and also training on the island closest to hell makes getting up to level 100 a doddle. once all of your characters are fully trained make sure you have all gf's, all of your best weapon upgrades and lots of great magic for all your characters. make sure youve picked up the gilgamesh card, minatour card, eden card, ward card and irvine card. also make sure you have completed the card club sidequest in the balamb garden. now once on disk 4 you must get back to the ragnorak in the time compressed world. once there you will be able to refine your valuable cards and then straight away win them again from Xu. using this technique and the 5 cards i mentioned earlyer it is possible to quite quickly get 100 holy wars and also get your Hp, Str, Vit and Spd stats up to maximum (spd does take a long time but is very rewarding as it also affects your evade stat aswell) this is basically how i beat the game. its a bloody tiring and tedious way of doing it but its pretty damn rewarding and in the end you are completely untouchable. as for beating omega weapon. seeing as i had 100 holy wars and squalls lionheart, he wasnt a problem. as for the final boss i just kept using triple meteor (255 mag stat of course). and SHOCK, HORROR i never summoned a single GF at all during the game except for Eden just to try her out.

or just continue the game as normal (fight all monsters and escape from ones you don't care about) try ur best to get squalls lionheart, and bam you won the game.

Levelling up to 100 actually makes things more difficult, as monsters level up with you. Also, Aura+Squall>Triple Meteor.

FFVIII is so easy you really don't need to go to all that trouble. Things only start getting even vaguely hard by Disc 4.

That's after you hit 99 hours and 99 min.

Also, if you kill a certain amount of wild enemies, the "Monsters Killed" stat on the battlemeter goes back to 0.
