Hi all,

I'm new to this Forum and would like to present myself.
I'm XstarWake and I'm from Canada.
I play on server Shiva and got the same username.
Jobs are as follow :
55Sam, 51War, 34Thf, 23Cor, 20Nin,20Smn and a bunch of all the other ones below 20...


I got a few questions that maybe someone will be able to answer me.

1. For my Sam, i sub either THF or WAR as per demand of the team leader, but i was wondering if SAM/DNC would be a nicer combo since Dancer is a TP builder job.

2. Does SAM/NIN is better? cause i need to lvl NIN if I wanna play Sam/Nin, kinda don't wanna lvl Nin for no reason, Am I ok with Thf and Was as sub, or I should lvl NIN?

I will start with those 2 questions and will ask more later if needed ^^

Well I haven't played for a couple years, so I deifnitley can't answer your DNC question, although from what I've heard about the class it might be doable. Try it and see? I really don't know.

/NIN offers nothing to SAM unless things have changed recently. Think about what specifically your subjob gives you. /NIN gives you dualwielding, but you mainly use 2handers anyways. It gives you Utsusemi, which isn't that useful since the most tanking you will be doing is pulling at most, where you hopefully aren't getitng hit anyways and, if I remember correctly, SAM has enough HP and armor that it can take a hit or two with a pull anyways. It also gives you access to other Ninja spells but they all suck, at least as of the last time I played.
Why do you think /nin would work well? Just curious.

MNK, WAR, and THF are probably your best bets as a SJ. MNK is a pretty poor choice but boost can be nice. WAR and THF reliably boost your damage, so I think the choice is obvious, but is there a reason you're unhappy with them?

For SJ /NIN, its just that i have been told to lvl it up till lvl 37 in case a pt need me as tank. I don't agree with a Sam/Nin beeing a tank. I personally don't use /NIN as sub but thats what some peeps told me, so i just wanted another opinion. Thank you, now i know that my Nin is only lvl20 and will stay that way for a good period of time.

I got War and Thf subjob pretty much lvled to 37, War 51 and Thf 34 (need 3 more lvl to finish it.) To be honest, I'm not unhappy with those 2 jobs, but i wanted to know wich one is the best for Sam. Personally i prefer War because of dual attack and beserk, but Thf with SATA is pretty good for DD....
so, Ill leave it to what the PT leader need between THF and WAR.

MNK, its at lvl 1 and i got no intention of lvl that job, kinda dont like it to be honest.

Anyway, Thank you again for the advise.

1. THF is really based on your party setup. Normally, you would just simple use Trick Attack then WS without even using Sneak Attack. Eventually, when you hit Yukikaze, you're going to get hate a lot. WAR is also a good option but your damage over time might get you on top of the hate list as well. In /THF's case, have Hasso up all the time. In /WAR's case, have Seigan up all the time. I also would not suggest /DNC for anything but soloing situations.

2. I use /NIN almost exclusively now for everything except for XP/Merit parties. The main reason why I do this is because I do so much damage as a SAM and Seigan/Third Eye is really not reliable enough. In situations where you have a huge alliance, you want to reduce the damage you take because healers are not only healing your party, they're all over the place so a Cure, especially under laggy conditions, might not come your way. Also, going /NIN reduces your damage, which is a good thing because you'll find yourself doing TOO MUCH damage at times. At least with /NIN, you have reliable shadows over Third Eye, which is based on luck if it stays or not.

However, if you end up not joining an end game LS or do end game really casually, /NIN you can live without and just simply go /THF to everything to control your hate. Otherwise, level it to 37 and use it ONLY at 75, you'll need both Utsusemi: Ichi and Ni to successfully work with /NIN.

And /MNK... Don't bother. It's completely worthless for SAM. Another subjob you might want to consider is DRG if you want to have fun with that. Why? You get Jump/High Jump, which allows you to shed a little bit of hate, and you have access to Accuracy Bonus and Wyvern Earring, which gives you +5% Haste if you're subbing /DRG.
