The battle is between MGS4 and FFXI.

Both I've wanted for a long time and both I will eventually own. But for now, I must figure out which to get first.

BTW, If I get FFXI are there any Shriners who still play?

I played XI....2 summers ago? It was an alright experience. I had fun at the time, but I have been told many times that there are much better MMO experiences out there. I honestly have no idea how it has been doing in the intervening time. If you had a reliable party, I'd imagine you could possibly eek out your money's worth. I had a hard time doing so (I didn't even get to join a linkshell) but that may have to do with how short a time I was willing to dedicate to the endeavor.

On the other hand, even though you know what happens in MGS4 ;) it has been reviewed well, you have an interest in it, and you do already have a PS3~

MMOs never appeal to me because I don't like the fact that gameplay essentially just turns into a "group up with people and kill a bunch of monsters together" type thing. Doesn't strike me as that much better than just killing a bunch of monsters by yourself, and it lacks the intense storyline element that makes RPGs fun.

If someone could figure out a way to make an MMO where instead of just getting together gangs of people to go on raids and whatever, there were interesting story things always happening that you had to react to (more like a game of DnD) I'd be all over it. Maybe.

TK, I appreciate the input and all, but, that doesn't help me. ;_;

Get MGS4, unless you know a bunch of people who play FFXI.

I'm going to assume you have no problem with the monthly fee of FFXI? Anyways, I've never played FFXI but from what I heard of friends who have the game, it can get stale from time to time or you will barely put it down when you start playing. I guess it depends on personal tastes. But if it were me (and I'm a big fan of MGS), I'd recommend getting MGS4 first because you don't have to pay anything monthly.

If you have a friend that has FFXI, see if they could let you play their copy and see how you'll like it.

This thread is not for your Ghost Babel nonsense. Swami's made his decision.
