Cris and I have my old NES and SNES hooked up, but most of my good multi-player games that we'd both like seem to be MIA for one reason or another. I figure it might be fun to get a few off e-bay, but I can't really remember many good ones.

Keep in mind that:
-Racing games aren't really her thing.
-Fighting games aren't really her thing.
-Puzzle games, like Tetris, tend to be a good one.
-I don't want to spend a bunch of money off e-bay, so if it's something that will cost me over $15 with shipping no thanks. Cheaper than that would be preferable. If I had a Wii it'd make things easier, but I do not.

So do you guys have any suggestions for me, or are all my qualifiers pretty much making this an impossible task?

Fuck 2 player, get Secret of Mana. It's 3 player!

It would also cost me $50 on ebay, so no thanks.

If she doesn't like fighters does that include beat em ups like the TMNT arcade translations, old Tecmo games, etc? If you can find those they are about the most fun you can have in multiplayer imo. I think it's pretty easy to get most of them for relatively cheap on ebay.

TMNT 4 was the best.

I kind of figured you would reply with something along those lines. It's really not worth it, though. That's a bill or two's worth of money on a used game. If it's honestly worth it to you, I can only assume you are either still living at home or rent with a large number of roommates. Which is fine and all, but that's not my situation.

TK: We tried TMNT 4, but beat 'em ups usually don't seem to do it for her either. It might just have been that I'd had years of practice, so it wasn't as fun to be the one that kept getting hit/dying, I don't know!

Is 3 a large number of roommates? It's only worth it to me 'cause favorite game and all. =/

Depends on rent, I guess. If you're under $2000 a month, that's not bad at all with four people. Of course, that's assuming that the cost of living and average income where you are is comparable to where I am...

As for the favorite game thing, I can relate. I've debated getting Dragon Quest II & III, because I love the series, but I just can't rationalize the money.

Dr. Mario (NES)
Mario 3 (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)

Also, weren't the Donkey Kong Country games two-player?

Actually, what's really fucking awesome is NBA JAM.

That and a Mickey Mouse game... I forget the title, but it was a fun platformer. You could change costumes that had different powers, if that helps. ;_;

IIRC you can only take turns with DKC co-op but I could be wrong.

It was either co-op or competitive play.

We've already played Mario 3 and Super Mario World to death. Haven't played Dr. Mario yet, I'm hoping to find it when I visit my mother, but I doubt it will turn up. As for the DKC games, you take turns. I have a couple, and had a good time with them, but again, I was too advanced skill-wise for her to get any fun out of them. It's no fun to struggle while the other person just blows through everything.

I do have NBA Jam, and it is here, but she wasn't really interested. Pretty tragic, imho.

I also have a NES Disney game, again possibly at my mothers. It was Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, or something like that. Great game, but no clue if I can find it when I head over to my mom's.

I'm trying to think of more games, but goddamnit RM, your parameters really shorten the list.

Fuck it, I know you said no racing, but try out Rock 'n' Roll Racing. It's like OffRoad Fury for the NES, but with weapons and heavy metal (MIDI format). Fucking awesome, imo.

Also, try 1942 for the NES. WW2 themed sh'mup.

I don't/ never have owned a SNES, but Pocky and Rocky looks great fun!

I don't expect that it'd be too expensive, and I'm pretty sure that it's too player.

noskillbassist: I know, they are not due to my own personal taste, I assure you! Already have Rock 'N Roll Racing. I played it a while back, no interest on her end though. However, 1942 might get the job done. I had a lot of fun when I played it, but never owned it. Not sure if she'd like it, but if I can get it cheap it might be worth a shot.

stuorstew: Possibly the Bobble games. Pong is boring, no matter what form it is in.

Ngrplz: We tried Mario Kart, seemed like something she MAY get into if/when I get my 64, but I think the controls for the SNES are too raw and hard to get used to for a newer player. Marble Madness may be a good one, and we have already discussed the other options in this thread one way or another.

Lord Magister: I'll likely try out Gauntlet Legends for the N64 first, because I already own that one. Tetris has been a possibility from the start.

Redbat: Never heard of it.

Yeah. And it was awesome. I used to love playing that after school.

Rabid Monkey, you should perhaps look at Krusty's Super Funhouse. For the SNES. One of my favorite games on that console. Others i loved were BlackHawk, Super Metroid, Bart's Nightmare.

I should maybe get mine out of the attic and play them actually. You have given me an itch to play.

Edit* oops. I just noticed you said 2 player. So my recommendations are kind of irrelevant, although, there was a game for the SNES that me and my cousin would play for hours. I cant remember the name of it. But it was two player and you were cowboys. I realise that isn't very informative. But i just can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

I will post it if i remember.
