Something along the lines of Kraftwerk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaScyfSHc-Y), Garbage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0X8W6E5xeU) and Portishead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PnNrtUTwa4) but at if possible into more of an experimental angle such as this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3mcR8hrRXQ) by Brian Eno and David Byrne.

I've been looking for something along these lines but often find shitty gothic rock bands or stuff that's just too heavy.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks :)

After a few youtube searches the ones that have my interest are Air, Boards of Canada, New Order and Tangerine Dream.

I knew a few of them but have forgotten classics such as Massive Attack and Aphex Twin. Slipped my mind. :/

Thank you all very much :)

- Autechre, James Holden (in the lines of IDM, glitchy electronic music)

- When it comes to trip-hop (alike Portishead), I'd recommend Zero 7, Amon Tobin, Xploding PlastiX and definitely Emilie Simon! :)

- Primal Scream (definitely their electronica albums like Xtrmntr)

- Ulver (a black metal band that went "avant-garde", neat albums like Perdition City)

- and also DAT Politics, The Flashbulb, Hot Chip, Death In Vegas, Orbital, Adult. and UNKLE. ^^

I also second pretty much all other recommendations so far, especially M83 and Faust, really good stuff!

Thanks very much, Trent :)

It'll take me awhile but I'll start sampling their music on youtube.

I recommend:

Massive Attack
Tosca
Sounds from the Ground
The Orb
The Sushi Club

If you're into more trancy dance stuff, then:
ATB
BT
Paul Oakenfold
Adam Freeland

Edit: Oh oops, totally disregarded the criteria needed :P

In this case, I still recommend Adam Freeland. If you can find his Now and Them album you won't be disappointed :)

J-Tek

Ken Ishii There are prolly so many remixs of his stuff its bound to be endless

Trance: Depends I like me some Commander Tom and some more acidy stuff I'd look into acid house to.

AVOID EPIC TRANCE, Hell Eurotrance altogether it sucks.

Oh you should like Cybertron if you like Kraftwork.
