For utter coolness, the entire introduction scene in Zanarkand and the chain surfing.

For sentimentality, when Tidus fades away. I was almost sad. D:

I liked the scene where they destroyed Home.

The entire introductory sequence, where Auron is standing on that tower and he drinks to Sin's arrival. Also, there is Blitzball, and Overworld plays in the background.

When I first saw how detailed that was, it blew me away.

Probably the scene after Tidus beats Sin. I nearly cried at that scene and I never cry.

I really like the entire Auron-in-Zanarkand series, where you see the memories of him and Jecht going through previously. The part where he hacks at the image with his sword in frustration is gold.

When Tidus washes up in Besaid, and the whole Blitzball/Sphere Shot scene that follows.

I expected everyone to say the kissing scene.

The chain surfing is cool but the scene where sin begins his attack just before you fight it and it creates those huge lines in the planet only for it to come back at you was excellent, oh and part when going into sin

Also yeah there were some real stunning FMVs in the game, I guess that's what happens when you have massive Square-Enix self sucking production values

Yuna's first sending is definitely my fav followed by the strange but funny laughing scene.

hard to say my favorite part on FFX since i havent played it for like 4 months.

But my favorite has to be when Yuna does the sending to all the aeons and i like the part when sin is sent it suddenly turn night to complete daytime in an instant.
