so I downloaded the mod called "Ficedula" and some psf(playstation) files of the original music and followed the instructions to replace all the Midi files with the original playstation ones.So I've managed to get the original music,or at least I think I have but I have noticed no real difference between the Midi files and the original ones.If someone could explain whats so bad about the Midis too that'd be great.But I'm wondering if there is a way to get any music of my own in place of the music from ff 7. I fancy the king of the hill theme tune instead of the original battle music.Is this possible?Any help is greatly appreciated.

It'd be far more interesting to be able to replace the music not with the original MIDI but with, you know, Beach Boys songs or so. :*

lol, that's a pretty bad idea. actually you'd have to replace the files and you may have to rename the music files. since they are played in a target scenario. I'm not a game programmer but the music does not play randomly, (dumbed down version) i.e. "when at Location: Dieling City play:whatever.midi". This is generally how games play. Just smacking some music files in there wont help. you'd need a program to reprogram the game... or you know learn it yourself.

But hacking it like that, that could work out? Or typical 'damaged original data which ruins the game' would occur?

it COULD work in theory. Unless the program goes into great detail on which file should be played. Sometimes the programmer will put the file size and properties, but that's nothing careful snipping wont take care of. Of course it's possible but it's sort of like an newbie doctor doing open heart surgery, you really try to do as little as possible so you don't screw yourself.

Yes, you can. Ficedula created a tool called "FF7Music".

-Copy "ff7music" in the game directory. Run it and click Configure.
-If you click "Files", you'll have the option to select "psf"/"mp3/CDTracks".
-You want to select the latter.
IMPORTANT: Before doing this, be sure to select "playback options"->"Sint. SW MIcrosoft" as the midi device

1)Put the mp3s you want in "ficedula/mp3".
2)Rename them according to the following: "Y-XX.mp3"

Y: Disc Number (on the OST)
XX: Track Number (on the OST)

Example: if you want to replace Opening - Bombing Mission, you'll have to call the file "1-02.mp3". When you're done click "save and exit"->"run ff7" from the software. If you don't do this the game will probably be mute, because from now on the software will tell the game engine what music it must play.

I don't know if I explained myself well, but I assure you it's easier than it seems :D
