I think it was more of a symbolic battle than anything else. It is impossible for you to lose it. Very much as the last battle between Sephiroth and Cloud in FF VII.

Also remember that Yu Yevon had lost any sort of humanity or even conciousness and existed only to summon.

Ah.
I get the whole "Symbolic and must follow the story" Thing,
But I thought Square Enix could make a bit harder games... =/
Let's see some of my game timings:

KH: About a week of time
KH2: Around 4 days
FFX: About a year but the timer only counted a week...I didn't play much
FFX-2: About a month or a couple weeks

A lot of other games were easy too..
My game record would be...
Completely beating The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning in 7hr 9min
without walkthrough/hint/cheat(s).

=/

The only one I have played from those is FF X and I did find it rather easy. I am playing it a second time now and I am right after Seymour Omnis and everything with the exception of Yunalesca and to some extent Seymour Flux has been a walk in the park.

Most of the games I have been playing as of late I have found incredibly easy. A recent one being Metal Gear Solid 4, finished it in three (work) days and found it easy to beat, specially the bosses. It was a blast to play it however.

It's a shame the most beautiful battle music in the game was used for this really short battle only. What a waste... since you're in no real danger, I prolong the battle for that. Seriously, the battle is over before even the first loop.

Actually, it's not impossible to lose the battle, but you basically have to go to great efforts to screw yourself, since, yeah, it's not gonna be Yu Yevon that kills you. Symbolic battle, yeah.

By the end of FFX, my characters were hardcore enough to roll over the final 'bosses' with hardly any trouble. Auto-haste, break damage limit and one MP cost are by far the best final fantasy abilities I've ever used.

Especially when you get 6 turns to Final Seymour's one...

It was quite a stupid battle, actually. Wasn't everybody on Auto-Life anyway? The REAL boss of that game was Final Aeon Jecht.
And Yu Yevon's insect design was really lame. :/

;1100254']The REAL boss of that game was Final Aeon Jecht.

I tend to see Jech more as Tidus' own personal challenge, instead of a real boss or enemy of everyone. Jech is more a victim than a villian. At least that is the impression I got from the game.

By becoming Braska's final aeon he never intended to become Sin in the first place and once he does, he is no longer himself, even if a bit of his former self remains as we see sometimes. Yet, those parts we see of his formeself are benevolent. He even seems to be the one who devised the plan to bring Tidus to Spira as seen in the opening sequence when Auron speaks with him while grabbing Tidus.

Stone/death touch/strike on yourself, or petrify grenades/farplane winds is the only way to kill yourself. It's not possible to use unless you're the dumbest person alive.

BFA was easy, after maxing stats and getting the celestials. What was it, 3 hits and he's dead with max str? :p

I thought the battle was odd, but same time relieved as i took 2-3 attempts At Jecht (Beat him with Yojimbo) and just wanted to see the ending.

Not my game, so in a rush to finish it, so didn't level that much.

yes i agree that its more a symbolic battle than a challenging one i mean who else could be the final boss to fit in with the plot ? :)

I agree with some of you, when you say it was a ridiculous Yu Yevon. They could of made Yu Yevon so much more then just a symbol controling Sin. But i guess that's what they were going for. When someone believes in something so strongly it becomes a symbol and controling you with ever lasting power. Just like Sin is what we humans fear. But inside the fear is the symbol of fear itself. The God. ooooo creepy Lol These are just my opinions, dont take em any other way. I have a morbid mind..lmao

Yes, but with a hard boss like Braska's Final Aeon just before, you wouldn't really want to come up against a boss that'd kill you just by blinking, would you?

[COLOR="Blue"]I'm going through my 3rd playthrough now.

I did have a FFX save that had over 500 hours.
but silly me lost my memory card LAWL![:itsamystery: :-(

But I love the game so much I don't mind at all.

But when I had my other game data, defeating Yu Yevon was a piece of cake :D:D

It was too easy so to speak. Honestly...
But I agree. The really nice music is wasted here.
They could have used it at the end of the game, or for the credits or something. _''''

But I really do think they should have made it a lot harder. >:(/COLOR]

The real challenge/screwjob of this game is maxing your characters stats and going after all the celestial weapons (GODDAMN FUCKING SEAGULLS!), only to be met with a pushover "symbolic" final boss battle.

This game was plagued with too much Symbolism That Doesn't Make Sense in Any Real World Context.

My $0.02.

Well, if you had the European version, you could challenge yourself by going after the dark aeons and Penance. If not, you could always fight Nemesis and the other original creations, so there could be a reason for all your leveling up and collecting of the celestial weapons.

I was indifferent about the seagulls, but it was those frickin' butterflies that annoyed me. That, plus the Dark Aeons. I haven't even beaten 1 of them yet.

Yeah, it was the butterflies that got on my last nerve too. I finally gave up on them-- Kimahri's Celestial Weapon was the only one that I never fully powered up.

I know. I expected him to be an old stupid guy and it turns out to be some kind of bug instead. My Auron was so powered up, he beat him with just one strike from his Masamune.

i think that final aeon jecht should have been tidus solo as a symbolic battle, then yu yevon could be the powerful boss people expected

EmperorG
05-19-2009, 10:15 PM
Well, since I only care about following the story and not powering up to god-like proportions, Jecht was a bit tough for me.
But Yu Yevon was weird at best.
So the Final final boss is just a bug shaped heart, yes, I saw Yu Yevon as nothing more than a oddly shaped dark heart.
The whole symbol thing made sense, but basically Yu Yevon is Sin's heart, the way I see it, Yu Yevon became a mindless organ with only one purpose.

Was it really THAT easy for everyone? I got to Jecht and was wiped out in his Second Form.

What was everyone's strategy? Did you get 9999 HP?

Agent0042

1. Take advantage of what the game offers you-- have Tidus talk to Jecht to slow his powers.
2. Overdrives are your friend-- use powerful Overdrives-- particularly Tidus's and Yuna / summon aeons in Overdrive
3. If you have powerful magic, such as Haste or Protect (this game does have Protect, right?) use it

Basically..bash away at him, summon Aeons to absorb his overdrive, continue bashing. My HPs were around 4.5k or so, he's not that hard, and Yu Yevon was a fucking joke.
