So, i've seen a couple of threads up for requesting the music for Metal Gear Solid 4, there's also a thread up of recorded MGS4 cutscene music but i think there's another way around doing it.
This isn't a request thread, this is more of an idea thread. Now i was doing a little browsing and i found that someone had dumped the MGS4 disc on a PS3 via Linux and had access to the game's data files, these were found in the disc.

Now i'm not sure what format .dbm is and if it can be converted/played. There was another file in the data folder listed as,
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 1.7G 2008-03-30 03:07 bgm.dat

So am i right to assume that BGM directory containing 518mb isn't the only source of audio on the MGS4 disc?
If anyone does have Linux installed on their PS3 and a copy of MGS4, see what can be done to grab those files and send them onto a PC, prehaps a proper game rip of MGS4 could be done.

Hmm even though you can get the files to a pc aren't they gonna be encrypted though?

Prehaps you're right, although there's no way we'll know until we grab hold of these files and inspect them.

I have dumped the darkness game PS3 to my PC and looked at its music files, ano other consol even the 360 i can access them in a hex editor, but PS3 i cant even find nothing, i dunno if this is the case here which i hope not but, why don't you try plugging and ipod or anothe rFTA32 drive and transfering one of the files and putting them to a pc?

I'd have to install Linux onto my own PS3 system, i've not actually done that as of yet, I've been looking into different builds of Linux for it.
I've never actually installed Linux, not even on a PC system but i'll read about and see what i can do about getting the files over.
