Been forever since I have played, just been leveling and farming.

Couple questions, I am sure they were explained before in the game, and I have looked through the manual for info..

What are the Gold things next to my characters Levels?

Are points used for anything?

Thanks for any help.

I haven't played in a while but it might be the quickenings. I have a good chance of being wrong though.

The orange circles next to your characters are mist charges. They appear when you have learned at least one quickening for your character. They're used for quickenings and summoning espers. You can use them only when your MP is full (if you have only one mist charge), or when your MP fills at least one mist charge (if you have more than one mist charge).

There are two types of points you can get (that I remember): EXP and LP. EXP levels up your characters. LP is "license points" and they're used for gaining spots on the license grid.

I think by 'points' he means the Clan Points. They don't do much except raise your clan level in conjunction with the number of marks you have defeated. I usually find though that once you've become strong enough to defeat the number of marks required to advance a level, you've also defeated enough enemies to achieve the required number of clan points.

I currently have enough clan points to be the top rank.

Not enough marks killed yet. :(

Oh, clan points. Yeah, when you get enough clan points, your clan level is raised, and the only reason you would want to raise it is so that you can buy better stuff from the clan store at the Muthru Bazaar in Rabanastre.

btw, noskillbassist, don't you mean you don't have enough clan points to be top rank?

No, I'm pretty sure he means what he said. I too have more than enough points, just not the required number of marks.
