My favourite is the battle with Griever, purely cause of the enemy you're fighting, the music, the moves used against you, everything about it is just epic!

I'd have to say Omega Weapon, because it at least put up a fight. FFVIII is way too easy.

The music is indeed good alright but I didnt find him a challenge really. I liked the guy at the end of the missile base though. That battle was a challenge but only cause I always sent my crap team there.

The weapons do make for epic battles if done without cheating.

But as for my favorite... well, it'll probably sound cliche, but honestly I think the Ultimecia in space battle was fun. Nothing at all to do with the fact that it was the last battle. Drawing Apocalypse, taking advantage if Hell's Judgement (limit break opportunities FTW), pretty much unleashing every item I want since I won't need to be worrying about items anymore, and best of all... THE EXTREME!! I'd prolong the battle just for that.

I also liked her battle speech after the last 10 times she was hit.

Man, the Geezard battles were wild. Couldnt get enough.

I really enjoyed most battles in FFVIII, especially any battle that was in Dollet (Love The Landing theme to bits and bits)

Also the fights on board the Lunatic Pandora really stuck out for me, they provided a fun challenge.

My all time favourite would definitely be the end of disc one, and the battles that occure during the parade in Deling City. I remember playing it for the first time and was amazed at the beautiful cutscenes.

Ah yes, I remember Water + Triple used to work well, but he still had a FUCK-LOAD of hp!

I like to slaughter Tonberries. Their high HP makes them a fun fight because it takes more than one hit to kill. Also, they don't give EXP, so I can pummel them with my stat-advantage in no-level files.

Marlboros are also one of my favorite enemies. They can actually defeat you if you aren't careful when fighting them. I think they're drastically overrated though.

I loved fighting those aliens on the Ragnarok, when you just have Squall&Rinoa. Even though it scared me being chased them, I kind of liked that thrill. :D
Also, the music during that sequence is kick-ass.

I'll actually post on-topic on this one. I found the Tonberry King battle to be exceedingly tedious, but that might have been because of the bore that I was forced to endure before getting to it. At any rate, I wouldn't call any battle in FFVIII "hectic." I mean, they're menu-driven, turn-based battles with (for the time) pretty graphics at times. With the broken battle system, it's not like the vast majority (if any) of the battles were even challenging.

hmmmmmmmmmm id have to say the battles with Seifer, because he acts all tough and then gets torn a new arsehole by squall and co. his attacks are completely useless.

My favorite battle wasn't really anything difficulty-based, it was just a weird moment in the story for me, the battle with NORG... Up until that point everything seemed pretty tame and made sense all on its own, then you ride down into the basement of Balamb Garden and have this weird alien thing sitting in some spaceship or something yelling and freaking out on everyone, and the creepy organ music playing the whole time... I distinctly remember an intense feeling of "WTF?!" at that particular moment. I like wtf moments, haha. And then, battle. I guess my favorite battle has nothing to do with the battle, really, haha.

The battle at the end of the first disc with Edea is probably my favorite. Mainly for the music piece that she accompanies. I love Edea's music. :)

For pure comedy value, the two battles with the BGHF512, or whatever its designation is. The mechanized menace you first fight with Selphie's team at the end of the missile base mission and then later as a broken-ass piece-of-crap that's basically just serving as protection for Selphie and the team. It's funny how you keep breaking down various pieces of it and they're like "Uh... just keep fighting!" and then finally you just bust the thing up and the soldiers take you on, even though they know they're totally screwed.
