Equip the Dawn shard and touch a pedestal.

That is guidance enough, methinks. FFXII's puzzles aren't real mind benders, ftr.

Equip the Dawn Shard on your least used character and have them touch the pedestal in front of the giant statue in the main room.

Actually you have to equip it specifically to Ashe, then use her as the Party Leader and have her touch the central pedestal.

No, it doesn't matter if you use Ashe or not. Just so long as it's your party leader (ie. the one who touches the pedestal).

No, you don't. You don't even have to equip it on your least used character. I just did it that way because the shard reduces the character's MP to 0. The only condition you have to meet is the Dawn Shard must be equipped to whomever is leading the party at the time.

That's weird then. I had read that you had to equip it to your party leader before I went there, but when I got there, it didn't work until I put it on Ashe and had her as my party leader.

From the official strat guide

In the Ward of Measure, find the Pedestal of the Dawn and equip your party leader with the Dawn Shard before you touch the pedestal to teleport to a new area. (If you touch the pedestal without the Dawn Shard equipped, the teleport stone won't work and three Zombies will arise from th ground to attack.)

Agent, mind closing this?

Have you gotten to the Pharos yet?

But yeah I agree that the mandatory ones aren't too tricky. Can't say the same for some of the secret ones, though.

Just to clear something up, I don't use the strat guide for anything other than marks and which chests not to touch to get the Zodiac Spear. On my first playthrough those are the only things I want help on. Everything else, is done by exploration and trial and error.

My next playthrough though, will be different =P

Zak: What's the "Pharos"? Is it before or after the Phon Coast?

LMAO at this "forced" justification.

I was going to close this last night. In fact, if you could see deleted posts, you would see mine saying "w3rd up, Swami" to his redundancy post. However, FreakyLoser posted at the same time I did, and not being one to go confirm this myself, I decided to leave it open.

Not leaving it open now, though :p
