I first heard Dragonaut - The Resonance and Hana Yori Dango and I was overwhelmed by the beauty and the power of these scores. So I looked for their composer and I found that's Kousuke YAMASHITA, a rather young composer. I tried to find more of his scores and now I'll share some with you.

This anime I've never heard of, so I trusted the composer when I got it and I was right! The music is grand, symphonic, powerful and very melodic.

As usual I only give you the best, the mp3 are encoded with Lame 3.98b8 preset insane.

Thanks!! This is the kinda stuff I live for. Please share more!!

EDIT: Nipponsei has Garasu No Kantai, Dragonaut the resonance, and Shion No Oh from this guy if anyone knows how to get their stuff.
Also I would suggest anyone who likes this style to check out Kotarou Nakagawa's work on Code Geass and Gun X Sword and Hayate no Gotoku.

Many thanks :)
Been anticipating and drooling for "Mina, active". Nice e-guitar tones.
Have yet to hear the others - maybe variations of this one exists ^^

You're absolutely right. And I see we have the same musical taste because I find Kotarou Nakagawa's music very close to this composer. I also managed to find some rare OST from Nakagawa. I'll try to share them soon.

I'm a mega-fan of symphonic suites and orchestrated music - anime and game. I think someone should generate a list of all the orchestrated ost's - categorizing by anime or game soundtrack. If this wasn't done already... if it was, please, by all means, instruct me to the forum. Thanks!

A little teasing...
I'm preparing a new upload for you by the same composer :

Xenosaga THE ANIMATION OST

You'll be amazed by the orchestral grandeur and the inspiration of this score.
Start the drooling!

Was looking for this for a long time. Thank you immensely. (also looking for the getsumen character albums 2 and 3 ;_;)

I'm with drumatic. Someone needs to compile a huge list of orchestral/symphonic anime OST (and game, perhaps). There's so much good stuff out there.

I posted some cues from this OST in my ORCHESTRAL thread. In case you want the whole thing, here it is.

Again, this score is magnificient, and Kousuke YAMASHITA is a young genius.

Enjoy this superb score !

arthierr,

I absolutely love this OST. I'm not a heavy symphony listener at all so I don't know the lingo, but what would this kind of style be described as? I guess you used the word melodic and I suppose that a catchy melody is what I look for in symphonic music.

Do you have any recommendations for other OST's that have similarly styled pieces?

Thanks!

Xian

Anime music is often something unclassifiable. Many composers tend to mix everything : orchestra, beat, choir, techno, guitar... They doesn't seem to limit themselves to musical genres but instead try to express the right emotion/message using anything they have.

If you like very melodic orchestral music I recommend you download and listen to all the packs I've posted in the orchestral thread Thread 57893 You'll be able then to judge and choose what you prefer.

If after that you want to hear more of a certain composer, just ask me in in the orchestral thread

Thanks for the share, Arthierr. I loved his work on the "Nobunaga's Ambition" VG scores and also liked "Xenosaga The Animation", so eager to check out more of his stuff!

Sorry for bringing this thread from the dead, but could anyone please re-upload this?
And to a mod or an admin if you see this: could you please move this thread to the anime download section? I know this is an old thread, but music of this quality should be noticed more... :)
