Zid IS my favorite FF character of all time. He's always the most powerful character when I play the game. With his Ultima Weapon and Dag at his side, the duo can steamroll over any enemy. Plus his quad-9 damage skill is the least MP-hungry (8 MP for 9999 Theivery damage).

About his character. I think he's a cutie. A flirty cutie, but a cutie nontheless. Heh-heh-heh... Plus he's a good storyteller. He's optimistic, he's happy with life, he's a loyal friend. Not to mention he's got nice arms. Heh. ;)

And THAT is why kuro thinks Zidane rocks, and we're all free to venture an opinion on this.

***Some minor spoilers...***

None of the characters in Final Fantasy IX really caught my imagination as much as in previous games. I dunno why, but I just couldn't get as involved with their plight as I had done with Cloud and his quest following Sephiroth, nor surprisingly with Squall and his quest for.... Um...... Well, okay, maybe I could get more involved in IX than in VIII.

Zidane was one of the better characters. He had a definite sense of right and wrong, and always did what he wanted to do and followed his heart, even if he made mistakes along the way. And he proved to himself at his darkest moment (when he first met Garland) that his friends were always beside him.

Kuja is my favourite character from Final Fantasy IX, although I didn't really find a reason to hate him other than the fact he went insane and wanted to destroy everything. I thought it was brilliant, his reason for ending the Universe "If I'm gonna die, why should everyone else live?"

I also liked Freya. She had solid attacks, a good trance and the ability to cast Regen on everyone at very little MP cost, and the ability to osmose magic points back. Very handy!

Zidane and Garnet are by far my favorite characters. First of all, Zidane has a great story to tell. He's true to the end, and follows his heart, even though it gets him into trouble sometimes. And he's not afraid to show his emotions, which isn't something you see a whole lot. I can relate to him A LOT more than I could any other character. He has a great trance and he's a very strong attacker in battle.
Garnet is a great healer and her story is good too. And her and Zidane are very cute together. Hehe. She's great for healing and she has some very good eidolons. Her and Zidane together is a great combination.

I could go on and on about them, and a few other characters, but it would take up a lot of time. lol The FFIX characters are my favorite out of all of the FF games I've played.

well, i do not dislike FFIX, i thought it was a decent game...and zidane..he fit the story perfectly ya know? and he sure was powerful with the double bladed swords...XD

Zidane...........he is a Final Fantasy version of the Super Saiyan. With the tail, the blonde hair, he's sorta strong and cocky too. Overall, anyone who gets to touch Garnet's ass is pretty kewl.

He's fit!
The tail is sooo cool!
He's heroic!
He's hot-headed
Did i mention hes fit?

Yeah I tought Zidane was a cool guy too. After Cloud and Squall ('I Don't Care'-attituted pouters) it was refreshing to see someone humorous guy like him who had positive outlook of life. He wasn't very honest with his feelings, but still he had so much to teach to others and was good friend to those who were looking for shoulder they could cry next to. He was kinda like big brother to everyone, especially to Vivi who had grown up too fast.

Well I guess that's enough for my analyse...

I, too, was playing the game and thought "My, what a refreshing new idea, finally a main character that is not absolutely anti-social!"
I liked Zidane very much. Normally tha main character is the character I am least interested in, but in FFIX this was very different, I cared a lot about him and his story, his personality, I liked it a lot.

I took off the tail from his action figure and... he did not look complete. He needs the tail. (to keep his balance) He looks so much more zidane-ish with his tail...

Zidane was an influence on almost everyone on his team: Vivi, Dagger, Freya, Eiko, Quina... even Amarant. I kinda sound like I'm taking him way too seriously, I believed in his charisma, too. He easily won my admiration and became my favorite character. Zidane had his issues, he had things haunting his past, but he basically had a happy-with-life attitude. Not only that, he's a real sweetheart to Dagger

Here's an answer that's not really a spoiler, but more of a "historical" explaination. Ever heard of the Asian legend called "The Monkey King?" or, "Journey to the West?" The lead character is a trickster and shapeshifter, a monkey-tailed character. He's a wanderer, an irreverent but strong-willed young man. This legend has had influence on lots of Japanese characters, like Goku (DBZ), Saiyuki, and our beloved Zidane. The monkey tail is a bit of a throwback to that legend. It's pretty common Asian folklore for the monkey tail to represent a bit of a trickster or someone who is defiant of the gods (or the oppresive Kuja/Garland/Necron/Brahne, in this sense).

Anyway, those are more thoughts on Zidane.

I agree that Zidane was a really cool character. At first I thought he was a just some sayain wannabe ripoff. Luckily I was proven wrong. He is very honest, which I liked, I did like his optimism (after Squall), and I really liked how he turned out to be such a damn fine leader. He just has good leadership qualities and is believable in that role, unlike his predecessors.

I think Zidane rules. He is my favorite character out of all the Final Fantasies. He is so sweet and I love the way he cheers on the other characters. I like how he is always trying to help people and how he never gave up on getting with Garnet. And He is just so adorible. But I really think he is the best character.

Personally, I like the "You're Not Alone" part, when he lost his identity in Pandemonium. Showed a lot of dramatic character development between all the characters, but I was just really moved by how much of a bond he'd built with all of them.

There are loads of things I love about Zidane's story. I guess my favorite one would have to be when him and Garnet were at the Black Mage Village Inn. And Vivi got up to go outside. And Garnet Looked down from top bunk and told Zidane that Vivi had left. And then after they got finished talking about why Vivi left..Zidane told Garnet of his story of what he could remember about him being in Tantalus and everything...

I just really loved that part. He got all into it and everything. I think it was really sweet. He was trying to tell Garnet a bed-time and it was about himself..but he didnt make it seem like it was about him.

Yes the similarities to Goku are defiantly there. Goku could whip Zidane's ass though hardcore lol. Kamehameha > Grand Lethal and SSJ 3 > Trance. Not to mention SSJ 4 or fusions.

Best part of Zidane's story is that he comes back to Dagger in the end.

Zidane can fly in trance just like kuja was able too so could Zidane hah proved you wrong and Goku he wouldn't be a thief but would you listen to my facts it's all there I'll go on now then Zidane and gang beat up necron rumored to be the strongest thing being lord of nothingness then theres frezia rumored to be the strongest life form beaten up by goku and then theres cell and buu and brolie o ya at the end theres Dachande waiting for both goku and Zidane so he can mop the floor with both of em heheh another thing they have in comon both destroyed by the same saiyan all made up by me cool I only have one thing against both of these people well 2 against zidane

Yeah know this is interesting. I feel that after playing FFIX, I feel like "Zidane with no Zidane" ... I feel like I am basically a real-life shadow of him. If you were to see me, you could see a pretty good resemblence...

I feel like his shadow because my sinse of balence is horrible, I mean it's like something is missing. I am easily tricked into giving the basketball away too...(a trait sterotypical amoungsts blondes,yet I have the dullest brown hair)(i might bleach due to to this fact)...


Like him, I fear the future, the past haunts me. I have a father a lot like his father though I get along a little better...^^ He expects a lot...heck, I am already closing in on a College degree...and yet has me very wound up.


Yet, I am a great joke maker, I am not afraid of girls and enjoy and feel comfortable amoungst them...

I might be a couple of inches taller in real life...but I am built stalky like he is... and I have the same face...I have the same way with words, and am agile to the point that I am the ultimate blocker at basketball...


I see Zidane as pretty much someone that says "You can be something, If I can...surely the hell you can."
