The difference:

1. Storyline
Storylines in many Eastern games, are unbelievable, it's like reading through a novel except you don't want to keep turning the page, you want to keep playing!

2. Music
Without it there is no sense of achievement, sadness, loss, funny and happy moments that could be felt. Music is the link between the gamer and the game. It is the connection between the characters and their world. I feel music or even SoundFX, especially in Japan are taken on a more serious note than Western Games.

3. Emotion
With the combination of the two, I feel emotion in my video games.

This isn't too say that all Western games don't have these, a good example is Baldur's Gate II. But for me the experience is more noticeably enjoyable and I feel more "moved" when I play Eastern games. If that mad sense...

What do you guys think?

There really is no difference, its all about the composer. I have more experience hearing Eastern music because of console gaming, but Western music can be everything that you mentioned. It's all about who composes it.

I have found that I like music from western composers better than eastern ones.

What do you guys think?

I highly disagree.

In fact, I think I'm gonna go ahead and call you biased. Why? Because you haven't bothered to fairly contrast the two. These are only opinions promoting Eastern gaming to the detriment of the West. No offence meant, but this sounds like fanboysim.

In a single post you've made it sound as if Western games lack any dramatic substance, good music, and pathos.

I like both western and eastern styles of older game music, but I barely find anything I like that is modern vgm.

Read my last paragraph, and my question "What do you guys think" is open for anyone to say that Western games are just as good or even say Western > Eastern.

ThEY are my opinions, I thought my first post already hinted that out. Again "What do you guys think?" is a way of saying what are your opinions, not "any other reasons why Eastern > Western?"

I'm not a fanboy, again read my last paragraph.

Yeah, I saw that you named one game (and a great game to be sure), but you kinda countered that by saying you felt "more moved" by Eastern games anyway. You really do sound terribly biased. Sorry.

Also, since you asked what we thought right after you gave your opinions, I decided you also wanted our thoughts on your stated opinions.

Anyway, if you want to know what I think about this whole Eastern vs. Western thing, it seems a bit silly. Specifically, as it's been stated, there's no real difference in the score of modern games. It's up to the composer. I've heard horrible soundtracks in Eastern and Western games and, truthfully, more Eastern games have shittier soundtracks. But this isn't due to any flux of talent in the industry, but because Japan produces more games than the West, so there are more opportunities for failure.

Bias is just another word for opinion. Somebody can't be unbiased and opinionated at the same time, my friend. He's made a few general statements and asked for feedback.

Why? It's what the guy thinks. He's talking about his emotional reaction. You want him to feel your feelings too? ;)

Lolling over the OP blathering about how great stories in eastern games are when they usually tend to be puerile tripe aimed at satisfying the power trip fantasies of teenagers. Of course, he probably is a teenager who gets a hard-on from seeing whiny pubescent cunts with ridiculous hair beat up less whiny stuff that he subconsciously assumes must represent the uncaring world that doesn't respect his "feelings."
