Hey guys so I just bought Rogue Galaxy for some reason and I haven't played it yet. I was wondering what your take on it was in terms of graphics, story, music, length, and difficulty.

Thanks

Story 5
Graphics 8

Its a story involving a prophecy, "the one" who is a young, spunky orphan who will save the universe........ Something im sure you have never played!!

I think the only reason i kept playing was to level up my weapons and combine to make new ones. Also the Battle Recorder hunt was kind of challenging, not so much fighting the enemies, but having the right item in my inventory to make the beast appear. The factory and bug minigame/quest was very time consuming and i completed less than 25%...

I picked up the game for no other reason than it was 19.99 on sale and i needed something to play after FFXII. Descent game, i kind of enjoyed it....

I give it a 6/10

i think it's actually pretty good.

it's fun. as in, really fun. Jupis's coffee power-up is the best move ever.
its not all that long story-wise, but if you like sidequests and extensive mini games like me, you'll be glued to it for hours.

i don't really like cel-shaded graphics, but this is pretty good. I'm not too keen on how the characters look, (except Steve the robot) but the landscapes are pretty amazing, and absolutely vast.
If you've already bought it, i definetly reccomend you play it because Jupis Tooki McGanel is the best character ever invented because the battle system is damn fun if nothing else.

and i apologise if there is still any hideous grammar. every time i check this post i see a glaring error.

I am currently playing it, it has been fun so far. I bought it earlier this year, but didn't play it until recently. I think I'm about halfway through the story.

Graphics: Excellent. Cell shaded with lots of detail. Lots of big detailed landscapes to explore. The main characters look great, very detailed and nicely desingned; most of secondary characters look cartoony (Big nose, or extremely fat, or strage lips) I leave that as an issue of personal prefereance.

Story: This is not the game's highlight, the story is enough to keep the game advancing, but not one that stands out from other game's stories. The characters are likeable though, even the annoying ones. The story is segmented in chapters, with most cutscenes being between chapters. The first boss battle has a lot of cutscenes that serve as a tutorial, it may be annoying to some players, but it's the only time that it happens.

Music: Battle themes are ok. Town and exploring music can be repetitive sometimes, but not to the point of annoyance.

Lenght: Haven't finished it, but most dungeons are long, the last part I played consisted of a very long tower dungeon.

Difficulty: It's an action RPG with enemies that come at random, so if you let your guard of, even some weak enemies can beat you, some enemies have special strategies also. It is not very dificult still, some bosses may need a second try, there are optional bosses to hunt called "quarries" wich range from easy to very challenging.
There are no healing spells, so you have to keep an eye on your item reserves, althought I see it as an interesting change.

Gameplay: This is the game's strong point, its fun an flows nicely. The button configuration is nice and much more playable than kingdom hearts IMO. Every character has a main weapon and a sub weapon (The protagonist has a sword and a gun, for example), every weapon behaves differently, so every character has different gameplay (except for guns, shurikens and lasers, wich are basically the same). You can guard attacks with R1, by the way. You can change the character you are controlling anytime you want. The other two characters are controlled by AI, the AI strategy is very simple (it is exactly the same as the one on Ace Combat 5, if you have played that), you can order your comrades to attack, disperse, fall back or go-all-out; sometimes they make you suggestions for actions they want to perform, you can give them the order or ignore it.
There are some minigames and extras, if you're the kind that dislikes minigames, it can be a negative point but they are entirely optional though.

This game has no load times, it may sound trivial but I think it's a very strong point. When you load a saved data, it takes sometime (about 10 seconds) to load everything, but once you start playing there are no load times at all except for when you teleport or fly to another planet (these are around 3 seconds).

i completely agree, and that is the main reason why i didnt die of boredom during the stages.
it sounds strange, but you get this weird feeling of freedom when you wander around absolutely vast stages without ANY load time at all.

also, im not a big fan of the graphics on the characters, but the areas look gorgeous, and they are so BIG!

This ended up being one of the BEST JRPGs I ever played.

Backseat moderate? Just because I'm saying for you not to revive dead threads? Howabout you stop trying to pad your post count with inane posts, and make a proper contribution to the forum.

Tanis, I think your obsession with Rogue Galaxy is getting a little out of hand. Perhaps you should maybe play something else for a while?

You also posted some nonsensical rubbish about it in a thread in General Discussion a week or so ago which just makes you look like a rabid fanboy for the game. If I hadn't known already who you were I would have just taken as bot-posted spam. It's irrelevant anyway.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

That explains it.

The game is pretty good.
It's a shame it hasn't gotten some kind of PS2 Classic re-release or HD remake.

I remember when a Sony console would mean you were getting at least two solid JRPGs a year.

That's fair enough. And there's nothing wrong with liking Rogue Galaxy. And I hope I didn't seem too harsh before.

However, in future, please don't keep trolling threads like this, especially old ones - you should know Revan takes evil delight in flaming those who necropost. ;)

I survived STS back in the day, you ain't harsh.

MEH...I don't even care.
I find it funny more than anything else.

I'd rather necro an old thread, then make a new one.
It reduces the amount of results when folks are searching for things.
-And this site could use a purging of dead threads.
