Did you build up your reputation by playing non-cc members around Balamb Garden?

kaffy_01

what do you mean by that?

Before the Card Club will even consider playing you, you must have built up a "reputation" around Balamb Garden.

This basically means you need to defeat several (the official guide says around 15) card games with non-CC members in the Balamb Garden area.

Which shouldn't be a problem, because the kid running around Balamb Garden is easy to beat.

and he has a minimog card.

Yeah. Or have fun playing with other players. It's a great way to try out some variations on the game and find out about some of the other people around Balamb Garden. And at that point in the game, many of them have pretty decent cards. If you haven't yet played the "Trepies" in the cafeteria and gotten Quistis's card, you'll definitely want to do that.

Play Headmaster Cid. He's got Seifer's card.

Headmaster Cid was a pain the ass. Took me a while to get that Seifer card...and the summon cards he won from me while doing it -_-

It's best to challenge Headmaster Cid while he's still in the Garden. If you wait until he shifts locations (won't say anymore -- spoiler!), he becomes a real big-time pain-in-the-neck to play because the rules change. Offhand, if I recall correctly, I think the time when you wanna challenge him is sometime around the time when the Garden crashes into FH, just before you go out into FH.

Yeah the first time I played it I had no idea where these rules where coming from and Cid showed me why he's the Headmaster.

On later playthroughs it was just a matter of picking the right cards and of course not having any of those annoying rules.

I played Cid after my inauguration as a SeeD, before I left for Timber.

Hmm -- I didn't think he played the Seifer card that early, though.

he does, if you walk back to his office after he gives you the magical lamp and such you can win it from him.
i had the seifer, zell, minimog and quistis cards once before i got to timber....i accidently deleted that file though, how annoying

Yep, I got Siefers card at that point. I tried to get every single card as early on as possible, which is why I went for it that early.

Learn something new every day, even sometimes things about a game you've played a dozen times or more. (Okay, maybe not quite that many.) Cool info, thanks!

I've played it more than a dozen and I always got his card when he changed locations for some reason. Just doesn't hit me that I can challenge him until that time lol.

Me neither...I was always like "Man, I wish I could just challenge him now."

Never thought about going back at that point. Lol

Here's a question relating to cards...

Is it possible (just really difficult) to spread the "ALL" trading rule to all places?

Agent0042
04-27-2008, 07:12 PM
I think so. If you're trying to spread trade rules, it's best to try to manipulate it the Queen of Cards and then see if you can start spreading it like wildfire from that point. All is a good rule -- Diff is generally fine with me too.

Noobinabox
04-28-2008, 04:57 AM
yea, the weird thing is that it doesn't announce if you spread the rule or not (like it does with open, random, elemental, etc.) You've gotta wait to see the rules before you accept or decline the match.

Agent0042
04-28-2008, 05:00 AM
Yeah, the Card Queen says that Trade Rules tend to spread out from the area where you play the most. And playing her can directly manipulate the trade rule. So I think the best thing to do would be to play her until you have the rule set that you want, and then play a fair few games in whatever area she's at.

"Diff" is better than "All", because after "All" comes "Direct". I would stick with "Diff".

You can stop the Random rule -- you abolish rules the same way that you spread them, it's just that's more challenging.

Clawandfang
05-03-2008, 02:56 PM
The random rule is quite annoying, especially when you're trying to lose and gain specific cards.

DubJ

You can stop the Random rule -- you abolish rules the same way that you spread them, it's just that's more challenging.

And time consuming, because sometimes you abolish rules you would want to keep, thus resetting the game. Sometimes even 10 times or more. It has happened to me a couple of time.
