The following soundtrack is the hard-to-find music from the Sega Saturn puzzle/FMV game Lunacy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunacy_%28video_game%29) (known as Torico in Japan and Europe). The soundtrack is mainly built around quiet, ambient pieces, and features some wonderfully nostalgic compositions, most striking of which is the main theme. In my opinion it's one of the great forgotten soundtracks from the Sega Saturn era. I implore you to check it out!

Screens:

These songs are an unofficial bootleg from the major themes which appear throughout the game. The music was composed by Yuji Nomi, Hideo Suzuki and Naoaki Jimbo (17 tracks):

I've always wanted to give this game a try, and assumed it would have a neat ost based on the atmospheric screens. I was right! Wow - this is pretty stuff.

Thanks very much for the upload!

I didn't rip this soundtrack myself. The songs came from a website which no longer hosts this music. It's not a "complete" Torico soundtrack; some of the shorter cuts didn't make it, probably because there was dialogue recorded over music. A lot of these were also quite interesting though. If you manage to record them, please post them here!

Sure?

Somegame rips just don't have a track01, coz it's static, or blank, but now i'm curious xD

Is there someone with more than ONE post gonna assure anyone if it IS or is NOT missing a track? No offense, but someone with ONE post isn't the most reliable source to go on, but... mm

Thanks for the magnificent Soundtrack though *-*

Thank you for alerting me to this! The track indeed appears to be missing.

ATTENTION: I have edited the original post and replaced the old download with a new one linking to the FULL soundtrack, this time with "Lunacy - 01 - Lunacy Main Titles" included! Those who already downloaded the previous version and wish only to add the new track can find it here:

giant bomb's profile on Lunacy
http://www.giantbomb.com/lunacy/61-3997/

Lunacy is a graphic adventure video game developed by System Sacom and published by Sega for the Saturn in 1997. The game was known as Torico in Japan and it's original Japanese title was Gekka Mugentan Torico.
Lunacy is first person adventure game similar to Cyan World's Myst. It features a simple interface requiring little input from the player and is filled with challenging and complex puzzles. Each action made by the player starts a pre-scripted FMV sequence, whether it be picking up items, interacting with other characters or moving about the game world.

Lunacy tells the story of a mysterious city where all your dreams come true. Fred, the main character, bear's the mark of the city's visitor (a crescent shaped tattoo on the back of his head) and he has no memory of the past. You'll wind up locked up in a jail cell in the City of Mists, ruled by a Lord Gordon who is obsessed with finding the magical city. He condemns you to death, but offers to spare your life if you can find the entrance to the hidden city.

Although not a hit, Lunacy did become a critic's darling in some parts of the world. The game was largely praised for it's high quality voice work, it's beautiful graphics and art style and it's mystical atmosphere.

Metacritic Reviews [Sauce - http://www.answers.com/topic/lunacy]

Gamefan Magazine - Vol 4 - Issue 6 had a panel of three reviewers rate the Japanese import copy of Lunacy (Ge Kka Mu Gen Tan Torico).

E. Storm 90/100 - "I normally hate FMV games with an indescribable passion, but titles like this and "D" are the exception."

Takuhi 91/100 - "I can only hope future releases can capture the amazing beauty of Torico's graphics and music, and the same near absence of loading time."

Evil Lights 93/100 - "Torico almost succeeds in reading my thoughts, containing a long quest in a moody Eastern European setting. A fantastic effort"

enjoy.

Notes:
I've completed the game like 3 times since i got it many many years ago. I haven't played it since, but as far as i know this album is as complete as you get. It has all of the tracks from all the events in the game, including the end credits.

However it does not have the 1 track from the scene where Fred opens the gateway to the City of Moons before Disc 2 starts. It does have dialogue in it between Fred and Jade but it's a very small track. I still own the game and may do a 320kbps / flac recording if i have time. I appreciate that 160kbps is lackluster.

Another thing about this album is that I got it from DC++ many years ago. Each track loops twice so your looking at roughly 3-4 mins per track.

Quality: 160kbps
Size: 65mb Approx
Extra: Includes a images and scans folder

Thanks. Looks like the same soundtrack, but with different song titles. This music was originally hosted on the website you linked to: www.yumenokeshiki.com/lunacy

But the site owner took it down due to excessive leeching. The soundtrack you and I posted most likely came from there. I just added song titles and "cover art" to make it more of a real album :)

U WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING THINGS:
1)S-TV (needed)
2)BIOS ( the emulator does emulate the bios by it self but some games might need it, torico DOESNT NEED IT) :D
in my case torico would not run if i had the BIOS enabled.

Get them here:

I stand corrected, the songs you posted aren't quite the same as those from yumenokeshiki.com after all. They're the same cues but they're longer (more loops) and sometimes with extended intros.

If you're doing the re-recording you should look for some of the shorter cues and themes in the game :) though I'm not sure they can be ripped if there was dialogue recorded over them. Some themes I'm thinking of:

* Mac's theme (short bassoon cue heard in scenes involving Mac)
* Lord Gordon's theme (Low strings, first heard when Fred wakes up at Lord Gordon's castle)
* Anthony's theme (sort of descending bell theme heard whenever Anthony reveals new information)
* Well intro (when Fred descends into the well)
* Jade's death (action cue that's heard when Jade is eaten by the carpet in the City of Moons)

A little update to this thread. So now into 2014, where are we?

Well I no longer own the game or a Saturn. I never did get round to recording either. I did once upon a time record the whole thing manually. But where is it? I don't know. It was over a decade ago and computers change and it's gone. All we have are these recordings. A lesson to be learned here is if you're going to do a project, fucking do it. Don't fuck about with videogames or drinking or watching crap on TV. Fucking do it and make life interesting. The time that's past and this never came to happen.
